    The Dylan and Ace Effect.

Births peaked in 2008 in the US and NJ, so you would expect that come 2026 you will in fact start to see an overall dropoff in applicants.

    The Dylan and Ace Effect.

The "enrollment is recovering from the steep decline during COVID" effect.

Brett McMurphy reports that FSU and group of 7 ACC Schools are exploring breaking the grant of rights agreement they have with the ACC

I mean, their downfall is being a bunch of mostly middling to bad football schools with modest fan bases in smaller markets. The rest is just the inevitable results of that.

    Geo Baker

This has been coming for decades. The previous state - of everyone pretending that a multi billion dollar industry was just a mom and pop shop who's employees should accept college credits as payment was untenable in the long run and its good that it finally broke. The NCAA would have been...

Portal and NIL Mercenizes College Sports

Which is good. Ultimately, colleges shouldn't be running major minor league sports leagues. At some point that system - a multi billion dollar industry predicated around the idea that these are just students who happen to be good at sports playing for the love of the game - had to break.

Big Ten Schools ranked academically by US News for 2022-23

Also, there is some difference - UDel is decent sized, but not UMD/Rutgers/PSU big.

Big Ten Schools ranked academically by US News for 2022-23

I mean there are only a handful of possibilities and you've gotta thing that UW is one of them.

Big Ten Schools ranked academically by US News for 2022-23

UW used to be considered one of the 2nd tier publics after like UCLA, UVA, Michigan, UNC, etc. Now its down in 3rd tier with us.

    $75k for Reiber?!?

Its totally believable that this could happen in a world where salaries are totally separated from profitability and are entirely about vibes. If I were a multimillionaire alum of some low major school, would I toss a fraction of a percent of my wealth at a talented basketball player just for a...

OT: Philadelphia resurrects Big Five (now six)

They should have all 8 teams in NJ do a tourney once every three or four years.

Worst in history (or at least kenpoms history).

    Aaron Breitman is a fraud

I mean its all BS anyway. Im 99% certain their decision making was this "Rutgers, a team that isn't a traditional power, has sucked since they had a major injury and isn't playing like a tournament team." (which is true - if you trust Torvik, we are barely an NIT team since Mag went down). All...

Season epitaph: We failed to create our own luck

I will continue to contend that basically our high energy D takes it out of our scorers (especially with a weak bench) and so the shots dont generally fall at the end when they need to. Obviously maybe they are just a bunch of chokers who freeze up under pressure, but I think tiredness is a...

Does Cliff G League it after this season?

He definitely needs to make faster decisions when he gets the ball down low. He doesn't have the touch to shoot from beyond like 2 feet out, he doesn't have the body to really bully bigger big men, and he doesn't have the handle to makes moves around them. So it would be a big benefit if he...

    Time to blow it up

I think we are seeing the importance of having guys like Geo and Harper who actually had some semblance of an offensive game. Mulcahey, McConnell, and Spencer were never going to be able to fill that hole. Simpson looks like he could be going forward.

I dont buy the narrative that schools better than RU want Pike and that’s why Hobbs keeps extending him

    1. We probably aren't willing to pay Pike's contract to an unproven commodity. He's getting what he's getting because he has done a good job. 2. We are paying him an average Big Ten salary and getting average Big Ten results. Sure we could fire him, then bet that the next guy is the next...

    Derek Simpson

Be that as it may, he was still more likely to drive and dish that McConnell and Mulcahey (although to be fair, both seemed to have learned from last year that they should just not drive at all rather than drive and get caught up in the trees and just heave up a shot.)

The margins are thinner than you think

That seemed to happen to us alot down the line though (Purdue felt that way, when they hit three threes in a row on what were basically desperation shots as the shot clock wound down. Same with Minnesota in their comeback). When stuff like that happens a bunch, maybe its not just bad luck.

    3rd NCAA is a LOCK

Well for what its worth torvik's algorithm thinks that we are literally the first team out if we lose to Minnesota, Northwestern, then lose (in this simulation's case, to Wisconsin) in the BTT. Given that his algorithm has rated us higher than most all season, I would say that no - we are not a...

    Let's go Rutgers!

Except they didnt play horribly in the first two games he was out. They played relatively close games against good teams on the road. They werent great games, but they were in line with the rest of our play except our very best games (Purdue, Northwestern, the blowouts against Minny, PSU, etc)
