End of the NCAA?

At what point does The Big Ten become too big and the payouts per team drops?

It doesn't reach that point.
If adding the next team isn't at least a neutral+$1 for the rest of the teams - they would vote against it.
This isn't a charity and they aren't going to add teams "just because".
Every addition is fully vetted with media partners and financial analysts for projected future payouts.

This is why the narrative "Rutgers was a big risk" is completely false.
If it was a huge risk then we wouldn't have been voted it.
There was minimal risk in adding Rutgers.

The NCAA had rules. The Supreme Court, in its infinite wisdom, invalidated them. That is not the fault of the NCAA.

If you have bad rules that are potentially illegal or unconstitutional then it's kind of your fault as an organization.

"We had rules that employee aren't allowed to take a break - even for lunch or bathroom. It's not our fault the court system overruled them."

would love to see a hard audit of the NCAA books and see where all the money really goes, and what they are not telling us. NCAA does not need to be eliminated, but definitely re-invented. As Fans will get tired of the discussion of money and payouts, instead of the actually sport/games themselves.

It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Rutgers had to prove their worth more recently and for more money than Syracuse did.

If anyone is at risk of getting "left behind" it's them.
They had to justify their worth at a much smaller dollar figure.
