I was bored waiting for 3:30 so did this.

Men's B1G Sagarin/Golfweek National Rankings out of 299 D1 Programs.

Illinois..........18
Purdue........24
N'western...28
Mich St........29
Ohio St........38
Indiana.........42
Penn St........63
Wisconsin....88
Michigan......93
RUTGERS.....97
Iowa..............98
Nebraska.....104
Minnesota...131
Maryland.....170

Rutgers SOS was a very respectable 49th.

Luke Wells leads RU with a National Ranking of 192 (out of 2,078 that played in at least 2 Tourneys)

In the last 2 Tourneys Rutgers showed they do have potential to move up but just couldn't finish it off, falling badly in the final round both times.

Next Tournament is the first week of February in the B1G Match Play in Florida. They'll also travel to #7 Stanford in a tourney that usually has a very strong field.

Women's B1G National Rankings out of 239 D1 Programs.

Michigan........10
Illinois.............31
Purdue...........36
Mich St..........37
Ohio St..........46
N'western.....49
Nebraska......58
Maryland......62
Wisconsin.....75
Penn St..........89
Minnesota...104
Indiana..........117
Iowa...............128
RUTGERS......136

Rutgers SOS was a respectable 93rd.

Leigha Devine leads RU with a National Ranking of 517 (out of 1,681 who played in at least 2 Tourneys).

One of the better players on the team for the past 2 years, Anna Maria Diederichs, didn't compete at all in the Fall but is still on the roster. If she's back after New Year's the team should be stronger. The team did seem to have some of the same final round issues as the Men's Team.

The Spring schedule has not been released other than the B1G Championship at the end of the year.

In other news, former RU golfer Chris Gotterup has become the #1 ranked college golfer since his transfer to Oklahoma. Oh well.

Since golf is a kinda individual sport would Gotterup be #1 if he stayed at Rutgers

I'm gonna say no but he was ranked in the Top 25-30 in 2019 iirc but really dropped last season. He's playing better against better competition. The combination of that does greatly affect the ranking. At RU he wouldn't have had the opportunity to go up against so many other highly ranked players and teams. Oklahoma's SOS is #3 and in tourneys he's gone up against Top 25 players 29 times, besting 17 and tying 2. It was a smart move for his future if he wants to play professionally.

Here's more reasons why Oklahoma is a much better option for a college golfer.

The top team in the B1G, Illinois, along with Ohio State and a couple others have somewhat similar facilities.

I could see Hobbs dismissing the women's golf coach after the season if the team continues to be dead last in the conference.

While the Men's team at least remains the #1 team in the northeast this side of PSU, the women are ranked behind BC, BU, Princeton, Yale, Delaware, Columbia, Quinnipiac, Dartmouth, and Seton Hall so the NE weather excuse wouldn't fly. Their schedule isn't daunting, it's middle of the road.

There is a heavy Euro feel to the team with 2 players from Germany, 2 from Italy, and 1 from Norway to go with 1 from South Africa, 2 from out West and 1 transfer from NJ so you can't say they're not trying hard to find the best players.

Is it possible Rutgers is unwilling or unable to give these young players what they need to play their best?
