Kate Hill to Rutgers?

She committed earlier today. From what i read she can shoot the three and she can defend. With Parker, Scaife, Sanders and Hill do you go after more guards?

Can someone give a brief synopsis for the lazy amongst us. Welcome Kate ! Maybe we should try university of Rutgers. It has cache

What is sad is that she is from NJ and doesn't know the state universities name.

If she can make open 3 point shots to help spread the floor....she can continue saying U. of Rutgers...lol

Reports are that she had a fair number of offers, including Seton Hall. (And asking if CVS should go for more guards is like asking if a pro football tackle wants another steak.)

Welcome to the Banks, Kate!

Of course, to make 3-point shots, you have to be in the game. And to be in the game, you have to have earned the coach's confidence with regard to knowing the defenses and the system. We've had people all along who were known to be able to hit 3s, but they were sitting on the bench a lot of the time for other reasons.

Then that's a problem. You CANNOT win in college basketball or PRO for that matter without 3 point shooters. Coach has to change.

While I would like to see RU shoot more 3s, this is not true - there are successful teams that do not shoot the 3 much at all. For instance, Baylor was 312th in 3-pointers made in 2014-15. There is no single path to success.

Is she a recruit for 2015-16?

I hope this doesn't sound too harsh but against the competition we play week in and week out Kmoney is gonna have a very difficult time getting her shot off...unless aunt Viv can

adjust her offensive sets this young lady will not be scoring much on the perimeter...I also don't believe she will be able to create her own shots but we'll see...seems a bit slow afoot.

She looks very good on tape (for NJ Sparks against elite players) as a PG who will distribute- and score if you ignore her. Definitely enough of an athlete to get minutes. Good pickup.

I think she is fast enough already. Shooters don't have to beat their defender off the dribble to get off a shot. She can be a deadly spot up shooter. I saw many times last year where Hernandez was open to get off a 3 point shot but did not get the ball. This girl looks faster. By the way, Hernandez was 14-31, 45% from 3 point range against B1G competition. The problem was that she did not get the ball enough.

The game is about ball movement to find open shooters. In addition, this team has enough athletic players that can penetrate, draw a double team and kick it out to shooters. I agree, CVS and staff have to stress that in the offense. When, not if, Scaife and Copper beat their defender, they need to make the extra pass to find the open shooter. Hate to say this, but that's what Uconn does.

So did Larry Bird....

Your point is well taken, however, Baylor is not a good comparison when Baylor had a 6' 6" All American Center to throw the ball into. LOL

From the little I noted in the video she is a pretty heady player that can play the PG and SG positions. Katie can not only shoot the three but can go to the basket with both hands so defense will have to respect that. Additionally, she has a jab and step back shot to give her space. If she can play defense at the D1 level she will be a really nice piece to the puzzle.

Not in 2014-15, though. There was a 6'5" player, but she averaged less than 10 mpg.

To repeat what I said below...she's playing against High School competition in the vids...unless Viv changes up specific sets for these "shooters" and the team of stars , Scaife , Copper etc.
have to be willing to make the extra pass...we shall see...but she is not quick and NOT Larry Bird.

hhhhhhhh
You are trying to compare Larry Bird to this young lady ( KMoney) she is going to have to hope Viv's offensive sets put her in a good spot...All said and done
she is going to have a tough time...
no Bob.....just the fact both were said to be a step too slow.

So you admit KMoney is a bit slow?..."slow" just doesn't win in basketball men's or women's ...Bird was the exception to the rule so it's not fair to compare the two...this is on Viv...if she changes up her sets...Katie may be successful...just an opinion by me Katie will struggle....Hope I'm wrong.

Honestly Bob...I'm not happy with recent recruiting but we have to admit we've lost something here "buzz" recently. Reading other boards talking about CViv's recent mediocre recruits this year gets is depressing. I'd like to see her go out with a bang!!;

Give me an example of one women's college player that gets a 3 point shot off by beating their on ball defender using quickness ? Biggest misconception in college basket...you don't need to be Carl Lewis to get off a 3 point shot. All you need to do is spot up and wait for a pass.

3 point shots are created by ball movement, picks, shooters trailing on a fast break, or opportunities from 2nd chance shots. Once again.....quickness has very little to do it and even if it did Kate Hill is quick enough.

It's very obvious that if a coach brings in shooters the next step is to refine the off court sets to use those shooters with more picks and ball movement........that's called common sense. If the current players don't buy in....you deal with it.

Cappie comes to mind, but that really kind of makes your point. She was merely a WBCA All American and became an Olympian and one of the best players in the history of the WNBA.

Did I not say that Vivian has to change some in order to have 3 point specialists be successful...on any team most 3 point set shooters need to be given the opportunity to get their shot off...I haven't seen ( unlike Connecticut )who always has dead eye shooters but Gino creates that too.
