What a dominating performance today by Mens Lax, and the good news is that other than our monster faceoff guy , who is a senior, most of the talent will be back next year. Kudos to the coach and team.

One thing that the official site too often does when we have a great win like this, or other accomplishment which could be a very positive recruiting tool is use language that actually hurts us. In this case, the headline says that this is the first win over a top 10 program by RU MLax in 12 years. It would be bad enough to bury that in the story, but to lead with this? Are you kidding? All that does is tell a recruit or anyone else reading it is that we are a weak program. While that may be true, it's bad marketing. But this is not an isolated incident. It is a pattern. When we got Mike Rosario for the MBB team a few years back, one of the first statements in the official release mentioned how he was our first ever McDonald's AA. Again, how does that help us. Let those we recruit against say stuff like that (I'm sure they do). We don't need to help them.

And this type of thing appears all the time in our releases. The only one that this type of nonsense helps is the reputation of the then current coach who accomplishes these "novel" milestones. Other than that, the highlighting of our past medicocrity by the RU Athletics arm that is supposed to be showcasing our achievements, is simply counter-productive.

Mike - I think the OP is ok w the facts, but not as a headline. No need for the curt comment, but it is consistent w the need for us to throw stones at each other.

Some would say that headline is a sign of things to come, a sign of progress. Or didn't you like all the "firsts" with Rutgers football in the recent past?

I swear people live to find fault with everything.

Those articles arent for recruiting they are for the community that comes to be informed about RU athletics. The average RU fan knows nothing about our lacrosse team and seeing they are making strides might peak some interest.

The headlines should mention that our faceoff guy, Joe Nardello, is just about the best in the country. We're going to miss him next year.
