Any coach-in-waiting precedents that we can cite? Did John Wooden and Adolph Rupp and Lou Carnesecca and John Thompson and Ray Meyer and Lute Olsen and Al McGuire and John Chaney have coaches in-waiting?

There were a few in football, that didn't seem to work out. Will Muschamp was Mack Brown's coach in waiting at Texas and he bolted for Florida. Can't recall the other situations, although I think Maryland had that going on with Franklin, perhaps.
