I landed yesterday at Newark Airport- spent the day just South of Rutgers.

I will be bopping around the state this week...Livingston, Bloomfield, Belleville, East Brunswick / Rutgers.

On July 9th I'll be driving from Asbury Park to Newark Airport to drop of my rental.

1. Do I use the Air Train to go to which location to get to Port Authority? (i.e. is there another train location that goes directly to PA, or is there a bus that leaves from Newark Airport? Cost?)
2. Then Taxi to my hotel in Downtown Manhattan.

How do you think the this cost will compare with the quoated price of shulttle Prime Tyme of $156 one way?

Thanks for your help.

PS WIll be going to Rutgers Stadium on Tuesday... anyone else going out to the stadium Tuesday around 1- 3 3:30? .

1. Take the air train $5.50 to the "Newark airport" stop on the Northeast corridor (NEC). You can catch an NJ transit train into to ny penn station $12.50 and arrive at 33rd st pretty quicky. Taxi from there to downtown

2. If you want save a few bucks you could disembark after one stop on the NEC at newark penn and board a PATH train to the WTC. It would save time and a cab fare assuming your hotel is near the WTC. This would be the cheapest way.

The bus is the only thing that would take you to PA bus terminal, it picks up at all terminals, is $16. Main issue here is tunnel traffic depending on the time of day you do this.

It's 3 stops from Newark airport to ny penn station. (Newark, secaucus, ny penn)
MO Its not port authority... That's the bus terminal.

$156 for shuttle tyme is a rip off... Are you sure about that price. If it were me, I would just UBER to your hotel downtown direct from rental drop off. It shouldn't be more than $30-40

Anything I say would be redundent
but I am just saying rutix gave good advice you need look no further

Why do you want to go to the Port Authority Bus Terminal? If you are just going to the bus terminal to catch a cab, don't bother with the bus terminal.

As Rutix recommended :

Newark Airport, take the monorail to the train station. You can then take a train to Penn Station in Manhattan, and get your cab from Penn Station.

Or, if you are really going downtown, you may find it faster and cheaper to take the train to Newark Penn Station and then take the PATH from Newark to the World Trade Center.

This. In reality, the PABT has nothing to do with this scenario.

It's not easy lugging luggage onto trains, which is why it is better to take a bus to PA, then a cab from there. If you only have carry-ons, then the traIn is doable.

Mo:

Goto http://newarkairportexpress.com for info on how to take a bus from Newark airport to the Port Authority. It's 16 one way per person.

Al! Al! Al! Your 25,000th post and you spent it on why it's good to take a bus to Port Authority!? Dude, what were you thinking? I definitely think you should petition John O. to roll back your count and get a "do-over" on your 25,000th!

If this is for a significant other step up man get her a car form the airport to Somerville, that way she doesn't have to schlep her luggage all over the place, the driver will do it for her. It will take less than an hour rather than two to three. It will cost your about $115.00 including tip (that's what it costs me to Somerset) I'm sure she'll be appreciative! (A-1 out of Princeton is a good service, very reliable and always on time and ready to go)
