I went last year. They need to double/triple the number of trucks there. They can't handle the crowds & most are out of food by 2pm.

This. A friend of mine and his wife did a little experiment last year, after the year before disaster of long lines. She got at the back of the line to get Max's Hot Dogs. He left the track to go to Max's Hot Dogs at the store in Long Branch. She was still 10 plus people away from even putting her order in when he returned with a sackful!

For those that have been and tried multiple trucks (I went and like everyone else, did not enjoy the lines), which one should I not miss? Are any truly worth the wait?

The Kimchi spice Korean barbecue one was awesome… Saw them last year.

Are the lines really that bad? They weren't bad at the craft brew and barbecue Festival last Labor Day!

You may as well just go to the Korean taco place in asbury.

Yes, the lines are bad. The trucks are basically just 2-3 people making made to order items as they come in, and can't handle the crowd. Unlike bbq & beer where everyone basically gets the same thing, you're waiting 5-10 minutes for each person ahead of you. The empanada guy is pretty quick, but it's not like there's much deviation in orders.

There's a similar event at one of the local wineries which is much better. It's the same 20 or so trucks, but only a few hundred people.

Thats too funny Bus, and I totally believe it. I've seen the lines @ some of the events. The wife and kids are going down early Sat and I'm gonna meet them there. Never made it to Monmouth once all last year. My youngest loves the horses. If lines are reasonable I'll try a couple of the trucks. will probably depend on what time I get there. A day @ Monmouth is fun no matter what.

They have a food truck rotation in Jersey City on saturdays 3-6 on Brunswick and Newark
