Why is some from PSU telling us about our recruiting? We already know who we are recruiting-please go back to BWI......

Goal is to keep Russo and hope maybe one of the others commits. Right now, expecting Gary, Walker, Claypool and Fuller to go elsewhere.

Correct. Temper expectations. Everyone on this list other than Russo is a total longshot at this point.

I read that it's between Notre Dame and RU for Claypool from several different sites (scout, 24/7). Oregon is in the mix because it's so close to his BC home. He also just posted something abt RU on Twitter, but social media is viewed as creepy on this board, so take that with a grain of salt.

Coach Flood knows what he is doing. Stars don't matter. OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin etc are wasting their time reeling in big fish after big fish.

I have no nothing against the kids that want to be at Rutgers. But I'd like to know what excuses the "stars don't matter" group will have if we get creamed again by the powerhouse schools which consistently bring in top25 classes that you know, have higher star recruits.

oreo: We got run up on because we need better play from a few positions. But it's not like those programs are head and shoulders better (although the box score would suggest it...).

We generally can move the ball between the 30s. And on defense, more often than not we had a guy in position to make a play but a missed tackle resulted in a game-changing play.

But it's not like we're going 3-and-out every series and have receivers running wild in our secondary.

There is no stars don't matter crowd it's a figment of some people's imagination on this site. What people are saying is outside of a few "can't miss" prospects there is very little difference between these kids. Do you really think the difference between a 5.5, 5.6, or 5.7 kid is demonstrable or guaranteed? Also, of those teams that rolled us Wisconsin, MSU, and Nebraska historically aren't recruiting juggernauts. MSU has turned it on as of late but the classes that crushed us were mostly 3 stars. In fact, I'd bet next to OSU Michigan was the most talented team we played according to Rivals rankings.

MSU and UW both had mostly 3 star players and they wiped the floor with Rutgers. Michigan was loaded with 4 and 5 star players and Rutgers beat them. OSU was loaded with 4 and 5 star players and they wiped the floor with us.

So in only one case above did the star system match the results.

That doesn't mean that stars don't matter but it is not the be all and end all.

Wisconsin gets very few 4-star recruits historically and
the Badgers are a perennial Top 25 football power.

Dude, it was an innocuous post that no one from our own board had yet to post, so give the guy credit. Some fans from other boards actually like our board, so don't start shit where it's not warranted. All he did was post facts without additional commentary, so give it a break.
