I tend to agree. Just posting for Mike.
On the other hand, if by some chance…

Yeah there was a year I think back in the 1980s when I didn't go on the trip and we beat them. I regret missing it but I wouldn't trust myself in that stadium around drunk Pedd State fans and getting us getting our ass kicked. I'd likely end up in jail with a couple of Pedd State fans, and I'm too old for that.

I had the flu a couple of years ago and missed a @MrsScrew road trip there. She had a surprisingly good time except for a couple of incidents.

Interesting itinerary. Not sure about the necessity for an overnight stay especially with a noon start. Going to take at least 90 minutes to get to the hotel, probably longer with traffic. Might as well just get home the same night, drink some beers on the way home

Is the overnight stay just for ‘Flash’? I’m not trying to me mean here but why are you driving over an hour outside of state college to outside of Harrisburg for the overnight stay?

Based on that itinerary no one would have much time to do much of anything besides attend the game while in actual state college.

I’m aware of where that holiday inn is, it’s located right off the exit ramp on 81 and you will need to drive to get anywhere. Even for dinner you’re gonna have to Uber.

As a suggestion, maybe see if you you can work something out with the bus company where they can bus people up to the casino 5 min up the street once they check in for the night. That’s really the only entertainment option within a 15 min drive. Both the towns Hershey and Harrisburg are 5-6 miles from where that Holiday Inn is.

Not involved in the planning or going on this trip, but I’ll answer on behalf of Mike Mahony. He’s been running these trips for 25 years. Nobody does it better. He knows from experience from many who go on these trips that they would not choose to bus home on Saturday night (arriving back 10-11 PM accounting for dinner and rest stop) after getting up at 4 AM that morning. The reason to drive 90 minutes east after the game to this Holiday Inn is to save considerable hotel cost vs. staying in the vicinity of State College. Also, this hotel has various facilities including two restaurants/bar. Many other hotels do not have an on-site restaurant/bar. Upon arriving at the hotel around 6 PM, most will have dinner, a few drinks, and then crash. The trip home on Sunday will be 90 minutes shorter and people will be home by 1 PM (for NFL football) so they still have a good portion of the day.
The bus will fill up.
Hope this helps.

See above. Very attractive for people to have the restaurants/bar on site after a long day. People can always Uber over to casino, etc. if they want.

I forgot about that place. It’s an Applebees type of place if I remember correctly

Any donkey can criticize. If you’re so confident in your idea, organize your own bus itinerary, and let’s see how successful it is. The guy has spent a lot of effort organizing and he’s not changing the details. So feel free to organize your own and see how easy it is.
