Looking at their facilities, they aren't close to those at Rutgers. They need a lot more than $80MM to get there.

You realize that same building in NJ would cost triple that right.

The problem is that fact that we need to raise so much more than everyone else to get the se thing

The only pertinent thing about this article is that their alum gave a $6 million to Miami U sports. that is a very significant gift to a non-P5 school and I believe that it is more than double the size of the largest individual gift every given to RU sports, though the RU donor of that gift also has made other smaller donations.

I think we need to bump the stadium to 60K as soon as we can would probably be in the neighborhood of additional $5 million a year in revenue.

Its not like we didnt just five years ago spend $100 million on football upgrades.

What ^^^ said. Granted we have a LONG way to go for sure, but it's not like we haven't spent money on the football program. Everybody has somehow forgotten about that $100mm expansion and what a huge political risk it was. That move will pay off long term, even if it probably cost Uncle Bob his job.

We borrowed the money and stuck season ticket holders with the tab for who knows how many years. They raised 49 million dollars privately. That's impressive.

How money is raised is a separate issue from actually expanding facilities.

The inference by some recently is that our program hasn't upgraded anything while smaller programs pass us by when in fact we did spend big bucks on expanding our football stadium at huge political risk. Of course the rest of the facilities need to be brought up to speed and private money needs to be raised. But again... different discussion.

One thing you have to remember about Miami, not well known on the East Coast, is that they have a proud football tradition. The program has been down recently, but there's a reason it was called the Cradle of Coaches. They probably have a better fundraising base for football among their alums than most non-Power 5 schools.

Yes, that is impressive. Miami of Ohio is considered a public ivy and produces graduates that succeed and love their school. Lovely campus. My wife finished her credits for her Rutgers Masters Degree at Miami. Great school.

And more selective with respect to undergrad admissions than Ohio State.

Even though Miami has really stunk it up the last few years, they do have a great tradition with an all-time record of 651-395 (.617).
