Here is the reality on "running an offense ".....

So much has been said I'm not 100% sure I remember the OP, but you have to lean that this is more a recruiting issue than an offensive coaching issue.
We are 8th in the conference in 3 pt attempts and 4th in the conference in FT attemps (top 8 in conference only), 3rd in offensive rebounds - those are recipes for success.
Guards that can't shoot and bigs/wings that can't defend all play a role in the results.

Andy Katz Snubs Rutgers' Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper With Big Ten Freshman of the Year Pick

It's absurd but no one in basketball circles get fooled by nonsense like Katz is pushing out there.

It's silly stuff like this that promotes the college sports propaganda that Boise State getting a bye in the CFB playoff seeding and having the team that didn't get a bye week in Penn State, being a 11 to 13 point favorite over Boise State in the matchup.

i get RU fans are leery of being complimentary of our own players and every other coach walks on water, but there's a reason why NBA scouts and coaches ultimately laugh at CBB in a lot of ways. Promoting only kids who happen to have played on winning programs are why the majority of the "busts", at the NBA level come out of Duke.....carry on fellow fans.....

OT: 2024 Philadelphia Eagles Season Thread

As a Giants fan, I’m jealous. Even if the Giants do win another Super Bowl after I die, it would never be like the one in Philly or most places. 90% of football fans live and die by the Eagles as well as other places. Meanwhile you got the parade in NY while the team plays in Jersey and it’s split with the Jets… and all the other tshirt/ TV fans who route for the national teams like Cowboys, Niners, Steelers, Raiders, Chiefs, etc.
Yep …If Rutgers football ever won something , a parade through New Brunswick would be epic

OT: Minor Snowfall for Most (except moderate N of 80 towards 84 w/some icing) Sat (2/15) pm, Followed by Heavy Rain for Everyone

No noticeable changes in the NWS-Philly snowfall map, but the NWS-NYC cut back a bit on snowfall for NYC/LI and NENJ from Union to Bergen. Not really sure why they cut back a little bit as the models at 12Z and recently 18Z don't seem much different. I will say that my confidence continues to be low in the forecast of snow for my area of ~2" and I'm going to only predict 1.4" for my house tomorrow before the changeover.

Given the low likelihood of accumulation on paved surfaces south of 78 due to borderline temps (33-34F likely during the afternoon/early evening before rising further with the changeover to rain), to me this is still pretty much a non-event south of 78, except maybe west of Clinton where it'll be slightly cooler. Areas along/N of 78 and especially N of 80 to 84 (and NW of 287) in PA/NJ and N of 287 in NY will have a more difficult time with snow on roads with temps below 32F (and some freezing rain, especially in far NWNJ/Poconos) until mid/late evening when the changeover to rain starts N of 78 and eventually N of 80 by early Sunday.

No change in the NWS-Philly snowfall map other than reducing snowfall along/south of 276/195 to <1" (was in the 1"+ range), but the NWS-NYC bumped snowfall amounts for NENJ (Union up to Bergen) and NYC/LI back up to a general 1-3", similar to most of CNJ, so the map looks more consistent across offices. Still think this is overdone for areas south of 78, where I doubt we'll see much if any accumulation on paved surfaces with temps in the 33-34F range; north of 78 could see some snow on the roads. Also, no change in the advisories which are basically for 1-3" of snow plus up to 0.1" of freezing rain for the counties along 78 and for the far NW suburbs of Philly; the advisories are for 2-4" (plus up to 1/4" of freezing rain) for the counties along/N of 80 in PA/NJ and N of 287 in NY.

Precip has started for EPA and is just starting in NJ (mostly snow, but some rain too until the column cools a bit, at least N of 276/195). Still looking like a changeover to rain by 7-9 pm south of 78 and by midnight from 78 to 80, with some freezing rain (up to 0.1) possible in the higher elevations between 78 and 80. North of 80/NW of 287 in PA/NJ and N of 287 in NY is where we could see 2-4" of snow and up to 1/3" of ice as per the ice map; will even change to rain there sometime in the wee hours. After the changeover, most places should get 1-1.5" of rain (except well NW where more frozen falls).

OT: Your stories of a brush with famous people.

A couple of years ago I went to a conference in Malaysia and the keynote speaker was Kim Phuc, She was the little girl in the famous picture from the Vietnam War who was running naked down the road with her back on fire from napalm.
Later in the day I ran into her in the hallway and had a couple of minutes of one on one time. I had my picture taken with her during which I put me hand on her back. I could feel the burn scars through her clothing.

p.s. There were no ex wives involved in this story.

Where is BKin118? What are his thoughts?

Ok...I'll bite

First, it was good to run into you outside the RAC @LeapinLou ...it's been a minute!

I don't think my opinion about how this season has turned out differs much from most others. I'm a bit disappointed but not at all surprised that we haven't executed during this experiment of a season. There could be 1000 reasons why, and I won't bore anyone with my 2 cents on that
..but to Rutgers credit, none are salacious or controversial in nature.

Pike is an outstanding human being and a great basketball coach. He will get us back on track when the smoke clears...I'm quite confident of that. Rutgers basketball will have 2 lottery picks in the NBA, and the programs profile has increased 1000 fold, even with the mediocre results so far.

Nobody can say that is a bad thing, right?
Thank you so much for your dedication and fandom for our beloved University. Rutgers does not have 2 NBA lottery picks. 2 NBA lottery picks came to Rutgers and had there draft status negatively impacted and called into question.

The articles and National media have already begun and expect it to get much worse.

I respect and value your opinion but your optimism may be clouding your judgement.

If you looked at the same season but the young men’s Jersey’s said Michigan or Syracuse on the front and not RU would your unbiased basketball eye say the same thing? Possibly yes but maybe not. No other University would allow this to happen with out consequences.

I politely think you might feel differently. Nice guy (hear that a lot and agree). who is Highly compensated should be held accountable. Pike well not hold his players accountable let’s not compound that mistake by doing the same with our head coach.

Thank you and look forward to a time of meeting you and talking RU hoops over the years.

OT: 2025 NY Jets Off Season Thread

You make some good points. I think they are in a tough position with QB. I like Taylor for this year, let Glenn & Co establish the “culture” (an overused cliche) but the team needs toughness and accountability. Maybe Travis develops this year. I’m not crazy about the QBs in the draft this year. I think Dart could be interesting but he will be overdrafted, probably in the top 15 -20 imo. I think they should draft OL or DL with pick #7 unless they trade down. I also like the TE from PSU.
Agree no first round QB for Jets , I expect a defensive player to start molding the Jet D into what Glenn wants and O-line help in 2nd then start thinking about a QB in 3rd
Except for Ward and Sanders the ones left are not worth first round and I'm not sold on Cam or Sheduer being franchise QBs and the Jets shouldn't trade up for them .
