From ATE: Surprise Starter on Offense?

Richie has been hinting that there could be a surprise starter, and in this week's Ask The Experts thread, he said that it's on offense. So I thought I'd start a separate thread for us to speculate. Here are my potential candidates:

At WR -- Chris Long (because he was previously written off because of injury), Ben Black, or K.J. Duff (because they're true freshmen).

At OL -- has Reggie Sutton improved enough to fend off Needham and Rhodes at RT? Or has Taj White improved enough to overtake all of them? Has Dante Chin improved enough to overtake one of the OGs?

At TE -- has Konopka finally overcome his injuries to take hold of this spot?

OT: Short Waterfront Getaway with Wife Recommendations

Hi All,

Looking for recommendations from the RU brain trust. I am trying to get away with the wife for a few days (leaving from Hunterdon county area) to somewhere near a beach or lake for a few days. Trying to be cost efficient and be within a 2-3 hour drive. Thinking something like a Sunday-Tuesday could work well since it is summer.

Looking to relax by the water, maybe swim some, have a couple of nice dinners.

I am open to any/all suggestions.

Thanks!

New SHI Stadium Entry Rules

Rutgers will introduce security enhancement at all SHI Stadium gates with the implementation of a new walk-through weapons detection system. Fans are advised to arrive early to ensure a smooth entry into the stadium before kickoff. The system, familiar to spectators who have attended other events in the region, does not require individuals to empty their pockets to enter. Those attending the event are asked to follow the instructions of public safety personnel.

The bag policy from previous years remains in place, but fans with bags must enter through North Gate C, Auxiliary Gate 1, Auxiliary Gate 2 or between Gates G & H (students gate) for inspection. All other gates will not accept bags.

CASHLESS
SHI Stadium is now cashless at all merchandise and concession stands with the exception of parking lots, the ticket office and food trucks on The Rutgers Boardwalk. Cash-to-card kiosks (no fees) are available at sections 104 and 124 to convert cash to a debit card. Cards can be loaded for any value up to $500 and cards will work anywhere in the U.S. that accepts MasterCard. No cardholder information is gathered, while purchases and refunds are handled like any other credit card.

THE RED ZONE
A new Amazon Go concession stand, The Red Zone, is located on the first level near the southeast corner of SHI Stadium (behind section 127). Customers enter using a credit card or Amazon One to open an entry gate and start shopping. After shopping, walk through an exit gate and the payment system on file will charge for only what is taken out of the store.

***Ask The Experts — Wednesday Edition***

Every week, The Knight Report publisher Richard O’Leary and his team of Rutgers Athletics experts answer questions from Scarlet Knights fans about the any of the athletic programs, their recruiting efforts, or whatever else they might want to know in this thread below. If we don't know the answer, we'll work our hardest to find out the latest and provide the best answer possible.

We will check in on the thread all day long to answer whatever questions you have!

Church of Chop Thursday Sermon - RU vs Howard 8.29.24

Let us all pray as we prepare for the Church of Chop as our Lord and Savior Greg Schiano and his Knights take on the Bison of Howard. A new season dawns upon us as our valiant Knights charge ahead, building on the triumph of last season’s remarkable victory over the Hurricanes. We return to the Ancient and Blessed Waters of the Raritan to face our first challenger, a Mighty Mid-Eastern Athletic Foe from the Swamps of DC. We embark on our Triumphant Quest for Glory… and we shall have no fear.

Let Monangai the Mighty pound the rock through their thundering herd. Let King Kaliakmanis play steadfast and true in his Scarlet Knight debut. Let Robert “The Anvil” Longerbeam and Aaron “The Law” Lewis skin their mighty pelts. And let the Loaded Leg of Pistol Patel fire the pigskin through the Holy Uprights.

And let us not forget the one and only commandment… “THOU. SHALT. CHOP!”

Making Rutgers Stadium Atmosphere GREAT Again

One thing that Penn State does so much better than we do is that the vast majority of their fans are at their seats when the team enters the stadium. This creates a huge impression on recruits, and pumps up the team.

In contrast, I’m not sure if Rutgers stadium is even half full when the team enters, and it’s pretty embarrassing. How deflating must it feel to the players, to run out to a half empty stadium. Hopefully, with a much better team, fans will be motivated to be at their seats early. We should all be doing our best to enter the stadium an hour before kickoff. That’s what they do at Penn State, and this creates an AMAZING atmosphere.

Any high school wanna play IMG ?

I was checking on a recruit there that might have some interest in RU when I noticed how many IMG players are listed among the top 100 players in the 2025 class in Florida. There are nine of 100 from IMG. The 2026 class has eleven of the top 70 in Florida.
Everyone knows that Florida has a very large amount of high school football talent. And apparently there are twenty of them just in the senior and junior classes currently at that one school. Twenty guys that will be playing at Power Five schools in a year or two.
Who can compete with that ?
