I am curious about a play/call in today’s game.

Today was such a great day with the big win and the historically big time commitment. But I am still curious if someone can enlighten me on a particular call. There was a play where Hyatt seems to have defensive rebounding position and Key seemed to go over his back for a put back, but an and one was called against Hyatt. Can anyone tell me what they saw, or what the TV commentators saw? I just hadn’t seen that call out of that position and I would like to know what I was missing.

Say goodbye to the Yellow lot?

Please don't kill the messenger. Heard from some inside people that discussions are happening that we will be having our new football facility right on top of the Yellow lot. When you think about it , it makes sense. The area where the bubble is might be too small and further away from the practice facility.

I for one would be livid. IMO the Yellow lot is by far the best lot for tailgating. With the performance of our team lately tailgating is one of the reasons we still go. The ripple effect would be huge. Where do they put the YL tailgaters? The blue lot, then where do the blue lot people go etc etc. We are spoiled with getting out of the YL some of my crew might just say they are done with coming to games. It isn't cheap to get / earn multiple yellow lot passes, I have three and we have two more with our crew. I am pretty sure I will have a mutiny on my hands if they go through with this.

Once again, just something I was told and it is only in discussion phase. If I get more concrete information I will post it and if anyone has resources inside athletics please ask around.

Great win, but stop with the ref whining...

Was only a 15-12 foul disparity and we deserved most of them, including Paul's almost flagrant dumb foul at the end and on top of that we had Paul's two stupid flops. The only game I recall being really pissed at the reffing was Purdue, where it was 24-11 in fouls and 28-11 in FTs, in Purdue's favor in a game where so many touch fouls were called on us and very few on them. Our implosion at the end was almost all self-made with bad TOs, bad fouls, missed assignments and bad shots. Thankfully, the team came back to win it on the back of freakin' Cam Spencer scoring 5 of the last 7 points in the game and 23 overall, including the huge trey and the 2 FTs at the end - onions!!

Paul did have 12/6/6 and 2 steals and a block and Mag/Hyatt both had nice nights with 9 and 10, respectively. Cliff only had 4 but played much better in the 2nd half on D with 11 boards overall and 2 blocks and altered a few more. Caleb struggled on O, but played mostly great D. Nice to win with subpar performances from Cliff and Caleb and not much from the bench (Simpson had a weak game too) - going to need more bench play and production in the future though. 11-18 from three is the stat of the game though.

Did anyone notice the guy in 102 playing t-shirt catch with the kids in 118?

Yes, that was me, lol. During a timeout in the 2nd half, one of the group of three ~10 year old kids sitting in the first row on the floor in 118 threw a t-shirt he had been given at our area in 102. I "outreached" my buddy and caught the t-shirt, but then, rather than keeping it, I caught his eye and threw it right back to him and he caught it. He then made another throw, this time really trying to get it to me and he did. So I then decided to try a moonshot return throw way up in the air and got lucky and it came down right to him and he caught it. The usher than stopped the shenanigans as play was about to resume, but we got a little ovation from our corner of the RAC. That was in addition to being on the jumbotron at least twice, as the camera guy likes us, since we stand up a lot and cheer. I'd say we're having a lot of fun this season...

Great TEAM Win!

How can anyone not like this team? They play so hard for themselves and for each other, especially on defense, with the incredible double teams and quick rotations if the ball gets past those double teams, but also on offense, as we're a significantly better passing team this year than any year I can recall, with a high level of unselfish play and making that extra pass (Pike commented on both the team defense and offense in his post-game remarks). So much fun to watch. Just look at these team stats.
  • 16 assists on 21 FGs - and it would've been a lot more if we had shot better.
  • 16 assists to only 10 TOs, as we valued the ball.
  • 13 forced TOs and 8 steals and 8 blocks.
  • Rebounding was just about even, 46 to 44 in their favor.
  • Playing connected was also a big reason why we did so well with fouls (22-15 in fouls and 27-12 in FTs, both in our favor), as we weren't reaching on D as much as we do sometimes; plus, of course, I think Pike's T helped and maybe the refs subconsciously knew we got hosed against them in the first game and that helped us get a favorable whistle.
  • Finally, we won with only 2 bench points, which obviously is not a great thing on one hand, but on the other hand the bench guys all showed up seriously on defense, especially Hyatt.
  • And last, but not least, we held them to their least amount of points scored all season, even with 5 extra minutes! And only 34% from the field, which is superb.
Lots of great individual stats, too, but I'm sure others will cover those...
