OT: Charcoal grill tailgate policy

Hey guys, random question -

I usually just do a sub & chips tailgate, but I wanted to take things up a notch this weekend by actually grilling.

I had originally planned to use my Weber Q (propane) grill, but apparently only charcoal grills are approved (no open flame).

Question: What do you do with the charcoal when you are done? The stadium website says you place them in designated yellow bins, but how does that work? Do you have to wait for them to cool? Do you add water?

Sorry for the noob question -- I should have paid more attention to what other people were doing.

The Big Test for GS 2.0

For me it happens in a couple of weeks when the transfer portal opens again. But it's not just about who comes in but who leaves. If a good number of players who are actually playing enter then I'll be concerned as that would mean that the kids aren't buying into what's happening. If they stay and believe in keep chopping then that's what's important to me.

Maryland - QB audition for 2023

I think that has to be the story of next week. Maryland is good but not as tough defensively as PSU. Gavin needs to give us 20+ points to make a case not to bring in a QB who is sold on a legit chance to become the immediate starter - maybe more. It stinks. Not going to be a great message for future QB recruit studs if he doesn’t work out. But we can’t afford to put everything into a guy who is as inaccurate to this point as Wimsatt has been without seeing sizable growth next week.

Only caveat and some won’t like it either - somehow Vedral gets approved for an injury redshirt. With a year to rehab, perhaps last year’s version of Noah could be an insurance policy. No idea if that’s even in the running though.

Wimsatt lacks basic game awareness

We've seen it multiple times this year where he just doesn't seem to understand basic game principles. He has scrambled multiple times towards the insides and just run out of bounds or taken a sack when all he has to do is throw it away to save a loss of yards. This is something I understood as a 4th grader playing football. How can he not know this?

To Make Myself Feel Better I Just Started Watching a Hallmark Movie

The weird thing is, I already feel about 10% better as my psyche is taking less of a hit than thinking about football. As I type, the Royal's nanny just grabbed the two kids she's responsible for and threw them into the van and they drove off after there was an attack of some sort. The Prince couldn't help because his security detail pulled him back. There's another 20 minutes for it to all come together and him to propose to the nanny.

Can Someone Explain Our Punt Return Strategy?

OK We've blocked punts. I get that. But on punts where the punt block is clearly not on, we make no effort at a punt return. Time after time I've watched the opposition's outside gunner run right past our defender who for some reason, turns and faces the middle of the field without even attempting to slow the guy up. Unhindered, he bolts down the field and forces a fair catch or buries our returner. WTF? If you're not going to even touch the guy, why waste a defender out there? Put him inside as another rusher. Or maybe, just maybe AC could have some success if we actually set up a punt return. I took me years to understand why our DB's don't turn and look for the ball. Could someone please explain this latest piece of strategic brilliance for me?

Out of Conference games away from home

There’s no sugar coating it. This needs to get better.
Pike needs to seriously do a better job getting his team ready for OOC road/neutral site games.
Last year we went 0-3 in OOC games away from home with losses to Umass, Seton Hall, and DePaul.
The year before that we only had 4 OOC games, all were home.
The 2019-2020 season we went 0-2 in OOC road/neutral games with losses to Pitt and The Bonnies
And then today we came out flat AGAIN. This keeps happening. It’s a real trend. Other than Seton Hall, these teams are average at best. We have been absolute garbage in OOC games away from home for over 3 years now.

Run D, Run O

So, other than the 3 non Offense TDs, the run game was the deciding factor.

On D, our line was rough. It’s troubling. Are they just young? Too small? All of the above? All of these were just up the gut or off tackle gashing runs.

Prognosis for the future? Unclear. Need some portal “big fatties” to stop the run. We have Lewis on the edge.

Harasymiak is good. He needs some weapons

On O, my main question is, why no designed QB runs with a guy who can do it? Keep them honest. Try it. Is he still hurt? Protecting him?
Also Salaam flashed some promise in first half, then he’s on the bench.

There’s no doubt Brown will be the stud next year. We will be better in the run game.

Next week is winnable. Need to go out on a positive note.
