NCAA FINAL FOUR: Championship Game Thread

It was a great game plan by Hurley. Defend Edey 1:1 with Clingan (and with Johnson they had 10 fouls to give). And take away the three. Edey eventually wore down especially on the defensive end.

Word is he may not be traveling far (and not SHU).

    Danny Hurley's the Real Deal

He just got a $200k bonus and auto 2-year extension by going to the FF. Always that he was a good, but not great coach, but proving me wrong this year. Has resources he needs to have a top 10-20 team. Less travel in BE as well.

    OT: Willis Reed

Willis was pure inspiration but what gets little attention is an incredible performance by Walt Frazier that night. 36 points and 19 assists. Listening to that game on my transistor radio.

Pitino to St John’s Now DONE

There is no soapbox left in college basketball. If RU or SHU hired Chris Beard tomorrow, no one would care when you made the Dance as a 2 or 3 seed. RU fans as any others would look the other way. Pitino represents all the good and bad of college basketball.

    OT: Cooley to Georgetown

Willard and Cooley's records in the BE and against each other were pretty similar. And Cooley had better facilities and resources. I do think it's a good choice for GU, but not a slam dunk for sure. And we don't know the NIL resources that's going to be available. But it's Washington...

    OT: Cooley to Georgetown

Not directly related, but Georgetown endowment is over $3.2 billion....NIL/P4P will dwarf PC and it's a way to carry on JT's legacy. Cooley also loves Rehoboth Beach.

    OT: Cooley to Georgetown

Brey going to USF in Tampa...stop on the way to retirement? Pitino leveraging PC and SJU. 50/50 right now. You know he loves NYC and is a member at Winged Foot, but SJU facilities are the worst in the conference. Wouldn't be surprised if he did a return to PC.

    NCAA Tournament Sunday Discussion Thread

MSU/Marquette should be a good one…two great coaches. I think Creighton meets its match with BU today unless they have one of those games when they bomb three’s. This is the day for Schierman to earn that 500k NIL.

    OT: Princeton wins!

I started reading this thread as I have been so impressed with Princeton in MM especially in the context of this changing landscape, and it keeps turning into a Pike discussion, so if I may give you an outsiders view FWIW. Pike is a darn good coach and has made the program relevant again. He...

    OT: Princeton wins!

Back to the title…Princeton. I wonder what their NIL budget is? In all seriousness, they are not a fluke and pretty much schooled Mizzou last night. Does a stable roster/continuity of four year players mean more now in this new era of transfers/NIL/portal/annual roster turnover? Do teams...

    End of SHU rivalry?

Let's be honest here: - It's good for SHU/RU to play every year. It's the most important in-state basketball rivalry; it sells out and it always creates buzz in the state, which is a good thing for two programs that historically have not gotten the attention of other teams in their conferences...

Does Cliff G League it after this season?

This is where NIL May make it more lucrative for him to stay. If he’s that critical to the teams success and can get a $100k NIL deal, it might be worth it for him to stay vs risking getting less in the G league.
