OT: Bell Labs moving to New Brunswick

Something similar happened in the Clifton area. Roche abandoned their campus a decade ago, and as part of the redevelopment, Seton Hall became an anchor tenant with a new medical school.

RU Club of NYC: Pinstripe Bowl Pregame + Game Watch Party - Thurs, 12/28, 11:30 AM @ Penn 6 NYC! 🪓🛡️⚔️🎳

It's worse. Waiting to grab a shuttle to Piscataway takes longer. Herald Square to the Stadium runs every 10 and takes around twenty minutes. From Grand Central is even easier running every 8 and clocking under 20.

Will Schiano try to hire Brian Ferentz?

I've seen this one before. Fast forward a couple months and we're getting a "Brian will have us Crying" thread.

    OT: RIP Henry Kissinger

I did not have the Kissinger death thread turning into a hot chicks / old chicks thread on my Rivals Bingo Card. Fingers crossed on someone mentioning a Honda Accord.

Weather for MD @ RU - Very Likely Chilly (highs in the low 40s) and Dry

Leading up to that game, there was a lot of talk about making it an annual tradition. Luckily that fizzled.

    OT: Favorite Thanksgiving Food

So three posters see a Thanksgiving spread and go straight for the corn?

Weather for MD @ RU - Very Likely Chilly (highs in the low 40s) and Dry

Wouldn’t “the temperature people think of when they hear cold” depend on the season, location, and recent weather? If the NYC high was 60 degrees in July, I think more than a few would say it’s “freezing out” and have the opposite reaction for 55 degrees in late Jan. I’m surprised that you...

    Yahoo Sports Slams "Targeting" Call

As far as Saturday, there’s an interesting twist to the rule. It’s guilty until proven innocent if called on the field. Refs are instructed to throw the flag if it’s even borderline. The quirk is when it’s not called on the field. The instant replay official can “throw” the flag, but in that...

    Yahoo Sports Slams "Targeting" Call

Like many here, I think the targeting rule has gone overboard. Especially when protecting the QB in the NFL. A lineman literally can’t land on a QB after sacking them. They must somehow make the sack and then contort their body sideways to keep their full weight off the QB. Injuries are part of...

    Yahoo Sports Slams "Targeting" Call

I double checked this year’s rulebook to make sure I wasn’t talking out of my ass. It’s here in case anyone else wants to review: http://www.ncaapublications.com/p-4669-2023-ncaa-football-rules-book.aspx Many in this thread are getting hung up on the word targeting. There are essentially 5...

    SHI Stadium Fan Guide

Besides the typos, there’s a lot of basic stuff wrong in here. The bathroom behind section 103 has been Men’s for at least the last 13 years. I can confirm it was still a men’s bathroom 4 weeks ago during the fan fest. Now I wouldn’t put it past Rutgers to have ripped out 30 urinals in the...

USC & UCLA to Big Ten

Back in the 2000’s, Wilner was the guy who consistently ranked us a few spots lower than the next lowest voter. There were a couple weeks where he left us off his ballot and was the only AP voter in the country to do it. I’ll never forget that name. It drove me nuts back then.

OT: Cold and Potentially Stormy (Snowy?) Pattern for 2nd half of January

Ok, let’s get some accountability in this thread. How much does it usually snow during the last half of January? A snowy pattern needs to be how far above that? How many inches does a snowstorm need to be considered significant? If there’s a greater probability of them hitting, what baseline...

OT: 12/16/20 Snowstorm Thread: First Significant Winter Storm of the Season - Major Snow/Sleet/Rain

Interesting. Your evolution regarding snow storms got me thinking. IIRC, this could be our first big storm post COVID. The impending threat of working from home because the office gets closed, having the kids at home because the school gets closed, with nowhere to go to because most of the...

OT: Rich Americans spending cuts is hurting the economic recovery

You’ve brought this up a few times and I was going to let it slide, but you just keep keep keep posting it. The US savings rate stat is like average yards per punt. An interesting statistic, but subject to wild distortions, and there are possibly a thousand more important/relevant numbers to...

OT: Massive tolls hikes approved - NJT, GSP, ACE

Just to clarify and correct some odd strawmans in this thread, here’s the actual data. The Turnpike Authority (NJTP/GSP) is one of the most profitable municipal entities in the country. NJ uses the Authority’s cash flow and bond issuance to support the state budget. The turnpike in the last...
