The issue isn't that recruits wouldn't know that Villanova and UConn have national championships and we don't. The issue is that we'd be such a sad sack of a program for putting up a banner for a season that legit programs would not put one up for.
We're going to be recruiting head-to-head with Villanova and UConn a lot in the coming years. If we do this, their coaches are going to point to our banner for a nice season and then theirs for national championships and ask recruits where do they want to go.
Last year was a great, breakout season for the program that, unfortunately, ended prematurely. But going out of our way to make a big fuss about it would just underscore how we are not a real big-time program. The big boy programs don't celebrate 20-11 seasons. If we want to be one, we...
A lot of competitors from those world's strongest man competitions come from Sweden. May not be a bad place to look for potential linemen. The genetics, at least, seem to be there.

Legacies in sports are hardly surprising. Having a major league player tutor you in a sport from a young age has got to be quite the advantage. And then there's the benefit of coming from that same gene pool that proved itself capable before.
Those schools probably have a strong alumni base in the Boston area, and UCONN is within easy driving distance to catch a game which will likely be a blowout victory. Good way to make alumni donors feel good about your program.
