OT: Retirement Communities in South jersey

Ha! Yeah it went off the rails pretty quickly but I got what I needed from it anyway.

OT: Any Burned Out Teachers in Here?

Good to hear that she is able to find something. My daughter graduated TCNJ with an MS, her lowest grade was a single A- (i.e., top of her class), very highly rated student teacher evaluations, got only 2 interviews for Gen Ed. Finally ended up in a SJ district but not until after sending out...

OT: Any Burned Out Teachers in Here?

Care to share district names or counties in which these districts are located? It could be a regional thing, where my wife works they are sending out rice notices to non-tenured teachers) EDIT: It seems like she is already an employed teacher and is probably early career. New grads seem to be...

OT: Any Burned Out Teachers in Here?

Thanks for clarifying that point. My personal experience is NJ where I hear the claim as well. In the case of NJ it is complete BS (with the exception of the Camden district).

OT: Any Burned Out Teachers in Here?

"You can easily find a job" - I would like to know where you are getting this information. Counter-example #1: My wife is in the business, for a recent opening at her school they had 200 applicants. They picked someone with connections to current staff (i.e. nepotism). Counter-example #2...

OT: Drawing on board expertise: Toms River for a retirement residence?

So after 9 pages of inputs containing a political discourse about the issues/benefits of Jewish Orthodoxy, property rights, 1st amendment freedom of religion, and supreme court jurist prudence, it looks like the answer is a No as a retirement destination. Thanks for the feedback. The funny...

OT: Drawing on board expertise: Toms River for a retirement residence?

Yes, if family considerations are out then we would consider DE. Housing prices are moderate and property taxes are not bad. The traffic down in that area though is horrific. Rt1 is a nightmare during the summer.

OT: Drawing on board expertise: Toms River for a retirement residence?

Obviously I’m not concerned with the schools except insomuch as it affects property values. But I don’t want to move into a crap-show of a town with respect to politics. I live in Cherry Hill (6 years) now, previously in Haddonfield for 20 years before that. It’s pretty diverse and crime where...

OT: Drawing on board expertise: Toms River for a retirement residence?

Yeah, well that would depend on what the kids do in the next year or so. The idea is to be within driving distance. If they move to God knows where then anything is on the table.

OT: Drawing on board expertise: Toms River for a retirement residence?

Any specific details/reasons why? Manahawkin also looks like it had potential.

OT: Drawing on board expertise: Toms River for a retirement residence?

So looking to retire close to but not on the beach. Familiar with OC and that area but it has gotten so expensive even inland. I fish quite a bit at IBSP and Corson’s Inlet. I noticed that Toms River has more than a few really nice recently flipped houses minutes from the island. What are the...

OT: Syracuse HC Fran Brown on GETTING THE JOB + Trev Alberts Interview

Rutgers DBs vastly underperformed under the tutelage of Brown. He can recruit but I think the question is can he coach?

OT: Good books you have read

Unbroken was a good read. It makes any challenges you may be going through in life seem pretty trivial in comparison.

OT: Another Minor/Moderate,Snow Event on Friday (1/19); Still Some Uncertainty

Cherry Hill/Haddonfield area I'm guessing at least 2". It's been steady and heavy for a while since before 8am. If it keeps up like this until rush hour it could approach higher prediction amounts. I do like reading these threads, even with the disagreements on forecasts, or at least used to...

FB Recruiting 2024 NATIONAL SIGNING DAY CENTRAL

10.76 100m speed on the track as a junior is no joke. Looking forward to seeing how that turns in to football speed.

Football INSTANT REACTION: Rutgers falls to Maryland 42-24 in regular-season finale

There will be a lot of talk about Wimsatt and the offense after this game but if they are able to get more than 30 pts it will be a loss on the defense. The D has looked lost this game. TOP in favor of RU by 6 minutes.

    Hyatt

I have to admit that I’ve come full circle on Hyatt since early last season. He is a valuable member of the team for all the reasons stated above and started gaining my respect as the season wore on. I’m glad he decided to come home from LSU.
