Just bought these on ebay. They are 39mm medallions with the names of the 1975-76 undefeated and Final Four Rutgers men's basketball team engraved on the coin. I don't recall these being issued back then. Does anyone know when these were created? Perhaps during one of the several Rutgers reunions of the team? Trying to approximate a date to it. Any info out there is appreciated in advance.

Never seen one of those!

There are a couple of regular posters here though I'm sure will be able to help with this though

All I know is one of those came up on ebay a few years ago as well but I don't know when the were produced.

don't remember that at all.... I might have bought one had I had seen it at the time.

If anyone's curious, the ebay seller just sent me back a message that said his number coding on the coin holders indicate he got the medallions some time in the 1970s or 1980s but not later than 1987 because he changed the identification system.

I can't imagine that they weren't contemporary with the season. There were lots of those types of trinkets out there to commemorate the success of that team

Do you remember when they had celebrations of the 1975-76 team? 10th anniversary, 15th? I think they've honored them at least twice but probably more.

Truthfully this is all sort before my time...but the font used on the coin and the logo on the front are all consistent with the time frame in question.

Just a guess...maybe Mr Slate or ClassOf67 can help further

Source, like BK wrote, I can't imagine that they weren't contemporary with the season, as these types of trinkets were not uncommon.

With that said, they appear to be bronze and nickel. I don't own either of them and would love to have them in my collection. I need to be more diligent checking ebay!

I saw these on eBay as well but really don't know anything about the background.
