I would assume there has been an uptick on full season ticket sales compared to this time last year.
Also, with the $99 mobile pass that gives attendance another boost.

I noticed that RU and Seton Hall both have home games on the same nights to start their seasons.
Who will draw better in these games and your crowd predictions?
*My attendance predictions below

Obviously The Hall has a loaded team that is projected to make a run in the NCAAs this Spring, but RU has a much larger student and alumni base than the Pirates plus Coach Pike has this program soaring in the right direction.

November 10
RU vs CCNY, 7pm, The RAC (BTN Plus) 5,074
SHU vs FDU, 6:30pm, Prudential Center (Fox Sports-2) 6,179

November 12
RU vs Central Conn St 2:30pm, The RAC (BTN Plus) 6,024
SHU vs Monmouth 1:30pm, Prudential Center (Fox Sports-1) 6,465

can't see over 5k for CCNY. Would be surprised if it was over 4k.

Why do we care about the attendance at Seton Hall games? We're not even in the same conference.

Two NJ D-1 programs in Power conferences playing at the same time opening weekend.
Just a little fun predicting.

how about make a prediction on the RU crowds or talk about RU instead focusing on the SHU part of my post?

you are kidding me right...I do not think season tix sales are all that improved given there are 22 games

your attendance predictions are way off.

We are looking at 4K tops for a Friday night against CCNY...TOPS and on a football Sunday another 4K or so crowd

Attendance at early November games against weak out of conference opponents has been traditionally 4000 or lower. The casual sports fan isn't interested, students don't show up in big numbers and there aren't enough season ticket holders.

Rutgers really needs to improve attendance because a state university in a power conference should be able to sell out a 8000 seat arena. There are approximately 9 million people in NJ .

Attendance starts with selling out the student section, which has very rarely happened over the past several years. If RU sells out the student section that will do a lot to bring back the juice to the RAC and lead to greater attendance by other fans.

Of course, selling out the student section starts with winning.

You don't think in a year they expect to go to NCAAs they won't get 2,500 fans?

Not when the RAC seats 8,000 (or less). Season ticket holders and students already account for at least 2,500 tickets.

That leaves 5,500 up for grabs minus the 20 I already bought for my group. This game will 100% sell out and I'm sure Rutgers is gonna market this game and do their best to get tickets into the hands of Rutgers fans.

Seton Hall is not going to be able to get 2,500 of the 5,500 tickets.

I wouldnt be so sure of a sellout

I think SHU will get about 2,000 fans at the RAC. RU should be improved. There is some juice for RU at this point. Last year I was at the PRU Center and RU led by 9 at the half. The game was still only a 2 point lead by SHU with 2:29 in the game. We represented pretty well considering how much talent SHU had. They are loaded again but there is no reason why RU should not make this a very close game. We need to get RU fans to buy up tickets before they are open to SHU fans.

There were around 4,000 RU fans (1/3rd of the crowd) that went to Newark last year. See no reason why it wouldn't sell out.

Pru Center is closer for lots of RU alums from Hudson & Bergen County and NY suburbs north of NYC compared to the drive to The RAC.
That was a factor that contributed to so much red in the arena last year.

5000 for CCNY? Seriously?

St John's - 1,100
CCNY - 3,200
CT - 2,900
Clev St - 2,750
Copin St - 2,400
Bryant - 2,800
E.Carolina - 3,400

Sadly, college athletics in NJ isn't a big attendance draw for local teams.

I already have my two so that's two less SHU is gonna get.

You obviously weren't around in the late 70's. If RU starts winning BB games in the Big 10, their fans will come out of the woodwork. There will be lines waiting to buy tickets, and many, many sellouts.

Yes,winning does matter in sports which is what season ticket holders have been waiting for far too long.
