2025 DE Chase Linton decommits from Rutgers Football
Four-Star defensive end Chase Linton has announced his decision to decommit from Rutgers and reopen his recruitment.
Here's the thing. As good as UGA is, if Linton's mentality was to stick with us because he didn't think he could start there, we wouldn't want him anyway.Good luck being 3rd string on that D line.
If he had decommitted from UGA to RU would you be singing his praises?a conscientious liar.
Oh well.
If he had decommitted from UGA to RU would you be singing his praises?
This is the new norm…can’t fault a kid for doing what he thinks is right for him. He owed RU no loyalty…or UGA for that matter.
Is this the worst decommit for RU since Saquan Barkley ?
It’s a little bit of both for allI like the different opinions of Rutgers within the fanbase.
We have both:
- We are the sisters of the poor hoping for scraps from the real programs. Linton is our prized recruit but will never play for a legit program like Georgia and be recruited over next year
- Rutgers isn’t anyone’s safety school. HC GS had to pull his offer for even entertaining an offer from Georgia.
Way to sugarcoat the loss. Here's the thing. As good as UGA is, if Linton's mentality was to stick with us because he didn't think he could start there, we wouldn't want him anyway.
EhhhhWay to sugarcoat the loss.
I don't think you're reading my post correctly. I was responding to your point thay he'll be a backup there and a starter here. Maybe. I don't think you or me have a good idea of what this kid can or cannot do. Unless you are some "small schools in UGA" football recruiting expert. My point is if a kid doesn't THINK he can be the best - that's a real problem. Selling early playing time is all well and good - but you seem to be saying he should pick us since he won't ever play there. Which is pretty silly given he is what - 17? And seems to have some freakish measurables.Way to sugarcoat the loss.
Agree with this. I actually think he's handled this about as well as anybody could. I'm sure as soon as UGA offered OSU/Mich/PSU et went crazy over him. Whatever happens best of luck to him.Player didn't sign-up with GA.
He said he felt guilty talking to other teams while under a "verbal" with RU so he loosened the knot.
Seems like a good kid.
Being a southern player still in HS and getting offers from GA has to be pretty big there.
Nobody who follow cfb thinks a HS verbal a year before graduation is a blood oath
If his mentality was Rutgers is my safety pick until something else comes along we shouldn’t want him /offered him anyway. Here's the thing. As good as UGA is, if Linton's mentality was to stick with us because he didn't think he could start there, we wouldn't want him anyway.
On the flip side, Greg wants players to buy fully into Rutgers. I'm not sure he's willing to take someone who wavered/decommitted due to the risk of him repeating it when the next suitor comes down the road. Talent is talent, but if Greg sees it as a waste of time, why bother holding the offer open? Some crazy takes in here. Lol
First- yes, it sucks
But then- hard to blame the kid and this is how it is before signing day.
Maybe he just shouldn’t have given a verbal as Greg would have held his spot regardless.
The “pull his offer” comments crack me up too.
If he says to GS- hey coach, after talking to those schools, I realize I really want to be at Rutgers- do you think Greg should say “nope, not gonna do it” lol
I’ll go out on a limb to say if a kid stays classy and rated this high- that offer would stay open or they will find a way to make it work if neededOn the flip side, Greg wants players to buy fully into Rutgers.
