Although technically part of 2017, adding redshirt Myles Johnson to the Class of 2018 would likely improve the class further. Very excited as was Coach at the court club meeting in February about Myles abusing the other centers. If Myles gives us a solid center, minutes , points, rebounds, and blocked shots, that will really help this very young team next year . Very young but decent talent all around. This is this staff’s class after two consecutive last place finishes. Just wait until they start winning...
Yep. People projecting Mathis as a star and 24 mpg off the bat, people felt obliged to comment on Harper's fitness and project a redshirt based on lack of ranking. Lot of reassessing going on.Considering the boards reaction to Mathis was "wow I've never been so happy" and the reaction to harper at the time of his commitment was basically "neat"..interesting to see harper ranked ahead of mathis
Its no coincidence that those players (plus myles mack 4* and wally judge 5* transfer) have been the best players on our teamsIn chronological order our past 4 star players. What kind of impact did these players have on our program their senior years.
Duke
Freeman
Sanders
Jack
Seagears
Miller
Rosario
Echenique
Chandler
Hamady (outlier)
How many of those did we even see senior years for?
Did not see a senior year:
Duke (still a sophomore)
Sanders (left after junior year)
Seagears (transfer)
Rosario (transfer)
Echenique (transfer)
Chandler (left school)
Players who saw a senior year:
Freeman (Juco) - #2 scorer, #1 rebounder (#6 rebounder in conference)
Jack - #2 scorer, #2 rebounder... but peaked his junior year
Miller - strong freshman/sophomore campaigns under FHJ, regressed under Rice for two years
Hamady - strong senior campaign, drafted into NBA
that's my point 1 out 9 had a big impact his senior year
Everyone likes to say they don't care about the star ratings when we finally get them, and yet they revel in making veiled comments critical of the staff when we don't have them. This board is amazing in its ability to find flaws and minimize positives. Some of you must be truly miserable people.

It was, at least partially, directed at you. Your insight on actual game play is always great and appreciated. I'm sure you understand my point about the criticism and the way you and many posters manage to make such criticism fit whatever the current fact pattern might be.If directed at me, i have been very consistent with my views on the rating system and what type of players we should be recruiting. The recruitment of Mulcahy and Harper Jr. may show that this staff gets it and it might be different. Harper Jr. was caught from the mid size pond and is a nice looking fish that hopefully tastes good. Mulcahy unfortunately found his way to the big pond.

Idk why but it was changed to what it currently is now sometime after. Harper was a 4 star and McConnel was a higher rated 3 star. Have no idea what happened. Either way. This class is no joke. And just to correct the OP.... not sure where that ranking came from for Harper on 247, unless it was up briefly before being changed.
We're currently the #40 class on 247, and Harper is 3* (.9241), nat'l 152, pos 35, state 6
I think the range for a 3* on 247 is around .8200 to .9350, so they have him on the upper edge of that
thanks, yeah I'm not sure what happened....I shared this tweet and then later went back and looked at the website and it was updated. But agreed....nice class indeed.Idk why but it was changed to what it currently is now sometime after. Harper was a 4 star and McConnel was a higher rated 3 star. Have no idea what happened.
