One of the guys I watched the game with had us focus on the tight end position throughout the game.
Wow....not good. The blocking was awful. I knew we were gonna have a drop-off when Kroft left early. but we are very weak at that spot. I was hoping one of the frosh could at least be an adequate pass catcher at that spot. I guess not.

This is yet another position group, told to us by sooooo many based on spring practice and summer camp was a "deep position group," that simply isn't getting it done. Yes, yes, they play well against the NFSU's, IU's, KU's, and Wazzou's, of the disgraceful defensive world, but that's about it my friends.

Having a lot of guys in a position group might be "depth," literally, but that doesn't mean a damn thing. Another product of Flood's lousy recruiting, unfortunately.

Our TEs are awful our FB no longer even really plays, as we've shifted one of the awful TEs over to his spot.

The crime here is that we're still trying to run the same offense when it is painfully clear we have no capable TEs or FBs. Make a farking adjustment.

I have been barking and harping on the need for lots of tight ends and fullbacks in the program if you want to run a pro style offense...and I kept hearing about walk on program

Guess what we are lacking?

By the way...I've been saying the same damn thing about kickers and the mocking game if you want to play a field position game with a pro style offense

Guess what position group that we will have a lot of walk ons at in 2016 besides full back and tight end?

He doesn't have to make any, that's the job of the coaches.
It's still relativly simple. If you are in a situation where you absolutely need the extra blocking, run out another OL and line him up as a TE. Otherwise, spread the formations more, run 5 wide on occasion, use an extra RB so that the defense has an additional weapon to account for and can't just blitz their asses off.

There's lots and lots to be done (just watch teams that don't use TEs and FBs that much for blocking). Unfortunately we run one thing and one thing only, doesn't matter if we have the pieces or not.

Which is the biggest crime. We should not be running this O. I watched a lot of college football this week....didn't see a whole lot of QB's under center running our O.

It is rather frightening that if you made a list of what you need to be a successful pro set offense:

Big, athletic, bully offensive line

QB comfortable taking 5 and 7 step drops and stretching the field off of play action

QB who has good ball handling skills (play faking)

Dynamic TEs

Punishing fullbacks

we have exactly zero of those in the starting line-up.
