A few quick observations from last night

1. I know Pike won’t make a change to the starting lineup while we are winning, but we all know that (a) Lathan is ready to go earlier than expected and (b) Ogbole just doesn’t have it. Massive elephant in the room there. We also need to start ponying up for next year so Lathan stays.
2. If I’m pike, I’m breathing a sigh of relief that I got away with not playing Ace last night - all accounts being that he was being overly cautious and he could have played. . I get where pike is coming from, but it’s time for Ace to play starting this Friday.
3. Acuff - yeah, he’s coming off an injury and I know he was a top ten scorer in the country. But looks a step slow and might be the odd man out until he finds his footing.
4. It is clear j Mike has improved and had the key bucket down the stretch. But he’s still a small guard and pike needs to choose his spots where he can thrive.
5. Is it wrong I expected a little more from martini in terms if interior play and rebounding? Maybe it is. Still early though.
6. Austin Johnson has a future as a nationally known announcer. He’s that good.

I think he is just talking about the center position. I thought Ogbole was better last night in his limited minutes, and I think you still need to get him minutes. He will be needed on conference play.
The crazy stat was that Ogbole was +12 and Lathan was -4 last night.

What more did you want from Martini in the final 4 minutes of the game? He played the 5, guarded the center from St Peters and played great defense down low.

Big O played well last night. He did what he needed to do. will see more pick & roll dunks (Ala Cliff) down the line. hands better.
Lathan has a high ceiling, with even NBA potential if his skills keep improving. Defense will progress.
Martini is very valuable in final minutes of close game. Toughness, experience & foul shooting key.
Hayes underrated as a rebounder. needs more looks from 3. Harper can split defenses and penetrate defenses at will, so can also kick out as future defenses collapse more.
Bailey will be big plus for offensive rebounding.
Derk D gets team going.
JMike game becoming more rounded. big bucket at the end.
Harper free throws clutch last night , just like his brother
Acuff adjusting to game speed, after long time off. Should be fully ready by Big Ten season.

He said as much in his postgame. Obviously he'll start Ace, but he said he's not going to start Lathan over Ogbole on Friday.

There were enough good things from the BIG O last night to have hope. We need him. I’d like him to set more picks. St. Pete’s got away with a ton of a crap and fouls. Would like O to send a message.
