Ace Bailey Struggling in Rutgers' Recent Stretch

Truth. But he will snap out of it. Should he perhaps stay another year??? One can dream… but other stars from the past would stay until ready. Time will tell. We need him to board and drive to the tin.

Zap's been real tough on him, but he has not shown burst ability to get to the hoop. It's all been one or two dribble and mid range jumpers.

Hopefully we see an aggressive and new Ace who doesnt float near the three point line and just ask for the ball and get pushed out. Want to see 5 plus foul shots tonight from taking it to the rack!

Frankly, that is his game: Pull-up Jump shots that may look contested but because of his ability to separate with the jab step and fadeaway or step back (2 different moves), and his ridiculously high elevation, I think the shots are not as contested as we the fans (or even the commentators) believe. Mixed in t=with allley-oops and put backs ... and a healthy amount (not huge volume, but a decent amount) of 3-point shots.

I saw him get the ball taken from him a couple of times he tried to drive to the basket, probably in his head about that. Needs to relax and get low, keep his dribble closer to the ground on his way to the rim and elevate. Tighten up the handle, good things will happen...

But there will also be nights where he makes a good amount of the shots he took yesterday..

I agree. He elevates above his defenders and they are usually good looks. Last night a bunch looked good and just wrapped around the rim and out…then he started to press and got in his own head. Still early and he is young. The talent is undeniable. Maybe they both go for 36 tonight :)

Tough crowd. I think crashing the boards harder and learning to play D will help him. This isn't AAU anymore. Might take a 2 months for him.

Couple things for me:

1. You can see the potential, it's obvious. He's gone after this year, if he has a bad year people are just going to put it on Pike and his draft stock likely drops a bit. That's all.

2. We don't need him banging down low trying to play scrappy for rebounds. We need him on the run, in space, making moves without thinking.

3. To the point above, he is thinking too much. It's obvious even on simple drives he's losing the handle slightly because he's unsure of himself.

Ace will have a game that he explodes and drops 30+, he just needs to stay out of his own head and just play basketball IMO.
