Hello.

About 3 months ago my girlfriend and I adopted a second dog from the Westport CT shelter named MACK. He's an amazing dog but he needs a really large yard or a farm type of setting. Unfortunately, our schedules have changed a bit and he does not get the attention he deserves. He's a 2 year old pointer mix with what looks to be Dalmatian. He's roughly 70 pounds and is pretty stocky. I refuse to return him to the shelter since he's such a great dog.

I live very close to New Jersey. Not looking to just adopt out to anybody, this dog needs a large yard. He also prefers human males and seems to bond with them better than women.

His qualities:
-Does not bite nor is aggressive to other dogs
-Is not food aggressive, you can put your hand in his dog bowl while he's eating
-He likes to sleep in your bed and constantly needs to be touching you (he lays his head on your chest or any other body part)
-When he's next to you he likes to lean against you
-He is potty trained. Not once did he have an accident in the house, can even hold it for 8+ hours. The shelter said that he's so potty trained that if he really needed to go he would not go in his kennel and would project outside of the door.
-He listens and knows "sit", "couch" and "cage". He will voluntarily run into the cage when you say "cage" or will run to couch if you say "couch"
-He poops at the outskirts of your yard and will never just go in the middle (for the first 2 weeks he would just poop anywhere in the yard but then learned on his own to go on the outskirts).
-He's up to date on shots and has been neutered in the shelter recently
-Supposedly he came from a house that had 3 cats but I have not tested this.
-He's micro chipped
-He's not destructive and will not chew on furniture
-If you like attention then this dog will get it for you.

Why am I looking to give him up?
He needs a farm to get his exercise. He non stop sits by the windows and watches for birds or squirrels. Once he sees them he literally shakes and wants to stalk them. He won't put his feet or nails on the window, just sits there watching. He gets very excited when it's time to go for a walk or to get let out in the yard. He's a pointer at heart so he won't just sit there barking at the prey and will instead just sit quietly stalking. He does lift up his front leg and points in the direction of the animal. Basically, he gets very hyper when it's time to go outside and I feel bad that he doesn't get the exercise he deserves.

Good luck! I have two great dogs myself but one is an Alpha male who only allows our boxer into his space. Otherwise, we would be calling you already.
Seeing the pictures, you should have no problem getting him a home. Good looking dog

Looks like a great dog. We don't have the room he needs. Hope, he finds a loving home.

Our dog just passed away Friday, she died in my arms as I was carrying her into the vets office. WOW. This was my first and only dog and I had no idea how hard it would hit me. I honestly don't think I could go through this again, otherwise the timing would be perfect, looks like a great dog.

Can I email or call you directly?

The new dog might actually help.

Agreed. It's a big help for lots of people. If you find out you truly are a dog person, don't deprive yourself (or your future next dog).

Sorry OP, just got a pup a month ago.

Jesus folks, this dog is perfect - young, potty trained, knows commands, good looking, chipped - scoop this guy up.

@NYCbanker if you don't get any bites, I will be happy to put this on tMB for you. Even the PSU board if you don't mind him being named Mauti.

wow banker. For a guy I thought was a bit out there...that was a great recap. Nice Job. Looks like a fantastic dog. Sounds just like my Border Collie. If I was in the market to replace her I definitely check him out. Good job!

R1776... Wow, do you own a motel with your mom too? Lighten up buddy

Thanks for the responses. Deep down I was wishing that no one would respond to this thread. He's a great dog and I would never give him up unless it's the ideal place with a huge yard or farm.
