Don't forget...

Luis Flores
Earl Johnson
Josh Sankes
Danny Waterstadt

I believe all sniffed the NCAA's after leaving RU.

I believe all sniffed the NCAA's after leaving RU.
Also Earl Pettis, who averaged 15.4 PPG for La Salle his senior year...

And Ollie Bailey, who became a stud in DII (I think) and went on to play professionally abroad...

Also Zack Gibson, who made the NCAA's for Michigan in 2009...

And Calvin Wooten, who averaged 19.2 points for Oakland in his senior year...

Those are the ones off the top of my head...

So ... based on all the information in this thread, here would be my All Time Depth Chart for transfers:

PG - Earl Johnson, T. Billet (only in a pinch)
2G - Luis Flores, Rosario, E. Carter, T. Billet, Wooten
WF - D. Jones (really a 2G, but could play WF), Earl Pettis
PF - Biruta, O. Bailey, Waterstadt
C - Echenique, Sankes

Chandler never really played much after leaving RU. Eli Carter was hurt a lot.

The front court is pretty weak - especially since Dahntay Jones is really a 2G, but is slotted at WF because otherwise there is only Pettis, Biruta and Echenique are okay to solid at PF and C ... but there is nothing behind them, and neither were upper P5 level players.

Point guard is also very thin.

The 2G's could score but were mostly relatively small, other than Jones.

Other than Jones this team would have NO DEFENSE, and other than Jones and Echenique, little rebounding.

Charles Jones led the nation in scoring, went to the NCAA and had a cup of coffee with the Bulls. Technically, he flunked out before transferring to LIU if you want to give him an asterisk.

By a similar standard Wooten and Chandler should be excluded as well, since both were asked to leave the program (neither flunked out, but they were removed from the program). Rosario SHOULD have been removed from the program for the same reasons Wooten was ... and there were no tears when he left.

The body-blow transfers were the transfers in back to back years of D. Jones and Todd Billet ... and Jones not leaving until MAY of that year, costing RU Flores as well. Flores was long on the record he would never have transferred if he had known D. Jones was leaving - that he only left because his playing time was blocked by D. Jones's presence.

So the transfer of D. Jones in MAY of that year was a double killer to the RU basketball program ... and why I feel Jones betrayed RU in a way none of the other transfers did .. with Todd Billet a close 2nd. And therefore, nothing was more bitter than Jones' success at Duke, and nothing was more satisfying than Billet not making the NCAA while at UVA (since he specifically stated his reasoning for leaving RU was to go to a team that would play in the NCAA).

100% echo these sentiments.

The Jones/Billet double whammy (triple whammy, with Flores) was brutal.

2001-02 could have seen:
Guards - Billet (Jr), Jones (Sr), Flores (Jr), Shields (Fr)
Forwards - Kent (Sr), Lamizana (So), Axani (So)
C - Wright (Jr), Dabney (Jr)

instead of...
Guards - Coleman (Juco), Shields (Fr), Sherrod (So), Wiggan (Fr)
Forwards - Kent (Sr), Lamizana (So), Axani (So)
C - Wright (Jr), Dabney (Jr)

We went 18-13 with the group we had... very good chance we would have been back in the tournament with the first group.

Don't forget Waliye Dixon, technically not a transfer, but an internet wonder with his high flying dunks.

Well .. you were not going to have both Jones and Flores - if Jones stayed, Flores was gone. If Jones had the courtesy to inform RU in early March, when is typical, Flores would have stayed. Plus, your line-up has no PG. So really, it would have been:

PG - Sherrod (So), Wiggan (Fr)
2G - Billet (Jr), Jones (Sr), Shields (Fr)
WF - Jones (Sr), Shields (Fr)
PF - Lamizana (So), Axani (So)
C - Kent (Sr), Wright (Jr), Dabney (Jr)

And yes, that sure looks like it should have a better than 18-13 record than the team actually had in 2001-2. Billet and Jones were both better overall offensive players than Coleman, though Coleman on a streak was a better shooter than either (but not generally).

And Jones was one of the best defensive wing players in the country - even when just a Sophomore ... Coleman was okay defensively, but mainly a decent steals guy. Jones was a fantastic lock-down defender. Jones was also a tremendous rebounder. Imagine having both Sherrod (a great defender himself) and Jones defending the top 2 guard/wing players on the opposing team ... with Kent guarding the best PF or C scorer. That would have been 3 1st Team All Conference Defense type players in the line-up.

If we reverse this thread ... Maybe with Boeheim's problems we luck into this generation's Keith Hughes and Earl Duncan!
