And so it begins, Big 10 on Fri. nights

Beginning in 2017, the Big Ten will play six prime-time games on Fridays, likely to be televised by an ESPN channel, FOX, or FS1. None are slated to be BTN. The games will be limited to September and October. And the league is committed to six Friday games for the next six seasons as it begins a new television contract. - See more at: http://btn.com/2016/11/02/friday-ni...arting-in-2017/#sthash.nWaaLyJC.miBU3Tll.dpuf

Dumb. Many high school recruits will be unable to attend.

“We also have had conversations with the executive directors of high school athletic associations across all 11 states. Commissioner Delany has been doing that. “We recognize that it is important to maintain good relationships with the high school executive directors. We have been in good communication with them, along with our schools. - See more at: http://btn.com/2016/11/02/friday-ni...arting-in-2017/#sthash.nWaaLyJC.miBU3Tll.dpuf

I saw. I still think it is a dumb move. A lot of kids will be unable to attend. Same with high school coaches.

B1G also said it likely won't be at stadiums with large crowds, aka no OSU PSU UM and Nebraska. Lots of rutgers and Purdue I fear

RU, Maryland, Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern, Minnesota, MAYBE Iowa or MSU/Wiscy (but I doubt the latter...). Definitely no PSU, OSU, Mich, or Nebraska. Agree.

A weeknight home game in an on-campus stadium seating 100,000+ is a logistical nightmare. Add in the distances people travel to many of those same venues, and I can't see anyway those schools would be eager to host these games.

For some of the B1G's other programs, though, I think this can be a nice way to get some added exposure. Plus, and let's face it, this is the primary reason this is happening, it will be a lucrative mini TV package the league can sell.

If that is the case we will have that and then Maryland at Yankee Stadium which means we will have a total of 5 games in Piscataway on a Saturday (Morgan State, EMU, OSU, Purdue and MSU). [sick]

I'm pretty sure there were a couple of seasons, in the recent past, which had a total of 3 home Saturday games in the recent past. Washington is on LDW, anyway, so does it really matter? The Maryland game is just a freakin' debacle, no argument there, trust me!

Washington at RU. Bet on it.

Now, instead of 2 Sat night games, we'll get 2 Fri night games.

You do realize that there are still more high school games in NJ, on SATURDAY, than on Friday nights, right?
Grew up in Saddle Brook, live in Brielle. SB and Manasquan do not play on Fridays unless it's an away game. I completely agree with you here.

I highly doubt it. 1 per year as there will be ONLY 6 TOTAL B1G games/year on Friday nights and I'd bet half of these games will be OOC ones.

"lucrative".. but not really for us, since we still don't have a full share. We'll likely be the ones playing the games, but also seeing the least return.

Apparently it's three B1G games and three nonconference games. And no team will play more than twice. That means at least one program is playing twice, because you can bet the B1G already knows which games will be moved.

I wonder if our home game vs. Purdue next year will be moved. Could we do a homecoming game on a non-Saturday game?

Washington at RU. Bet on it.

Opening weekend doesn't likely count in this new deal. Furman at Michigan State was played Friday night on the BTN. The difference is that ESPN of Fox may televise it. I wouldn't be surprised if Eastern Michigan in week 2 is on Friday. If it is just the smaller stadiums, the potential Friday night games for week 2 are Western Kentucky at Illinois, Bowling Green at Michigan State, and Ohio at Purdue in addition to EMU at RU.

Maybe. Maybe not. Only B1G teams would be playing, total, in a given year.

The B1G loves Saturday Noon Homecoming games. I highly doubt that one gets moved. TV #'s on a Friday night, for RU-Purdue, nah.

They do. In the NJ.com article, they said they will announce which games in the next 4-7 days. Also says it will only be 1 home game per team per year. So while we might be hit twice, one of them will be on the road.

Better having RU on a channel most viewers can watch on a Friday night than RU playing Wash on a Saturday on a 3rd party channel feed where most viewers have to hack a website with a pirated URL address and use an HDMI cable plugged into a big screen tv; and then have address blocked by the PAC12 conference right before the game starts.

Friday night will become the new Thursday night of college football.

GO RU

I'm fine with it but feel that it would be better suited for this time of year than september and think that its a better option than Saturdays at noon. I'm personally not against Thursday nights either even though its a hassle for a work night if its the right matchup say Rutgers against Michigan or penn state it would be an electric atmosphere and you make amends for the work night...again better than the constant noon starts...mix it up a little make it exciting

I have no problem with the friday night of labor day weekend against washington...primetime game, maybe only one on...frees up the rest of 3-day weekend. i think it would have to be 8pm kick opposed to 7 to let work people get there

Its either that or eastern michigan or morgan state the following two weeks (yikes) which neither i feel would draw...

I'm 100% fine with THIS game being on a Friday night on LDW. Just my best "bet" right now.
