What if the conference gsme was an away game in addition to the 10 home games?
Good luck..zero reason a conference school who schedule a home game with RU at msg after the RU crowd showing yesterday

If we want to be New York City's Team then we need to play MSG. We should be bringing all of our NYC recruits to this game. This is a huge opportunity every year. Like I said next year we should get a B1G team away game at MSG. Should alternate every year between away and home.

That’s a good point.Good luck..zero reason a conference school will schedule a home game with RU at msg after the RU crowd showing yesterday
So if you want to be ( trust me Rutgers wants this ) on top in the largest media market in the world you need to play in NYC . Winning is necessary as well. There is no such thing as nycs team..we reside in NJ...nyc follows about a half dozen major schools and those that win the most at any time garner the most attention
There are ways to do this without losing a home conference game. So, if you want to be (trust me Rutgers wants this) on top in the largest media market in the world you need to play in NYC. Winning is necessary as well.
We should all want this there is lots of rich people with NIL money in NYC.
Interesting to see the folks who are so against this very telling how they look at things. "Small time" comes to mind amongst other adjectives.
Would Dec 23rd work for you? 🤐
Which is fine by me.MSG’s foot-dragging on the date has led RU to consider other options. RU and the third party that put the original deal together are exploring other venues and opponents. SJU at MSG is still the first choice, though.
I would consider St Johns an away game with no return game the next yearWhich is fine by me.
Agreed. Play someone from the B12, SEC or ACC (no Syracuse or BC).I would consider St Johns an away game with no return game the next year
Normally our fans would be upset with that
This is why it should be anyone but St Johns, unless they come to the RAC the following year
If it were to be St Johns and they treat it ticket wise like their home game, selling to their fans first through season ticket sales, which now will sky rocket under Pitino
our fans might get the crappiest seats
So? IMO don’t think the last bold should be a concern, since it would be their home game and that’s what happens.I would consider St Johns an away game with no return game the next year

But who would the NCAA consider the home team to be in that situation?SJU at MSG is still the first choice, though.

Knowing the NCAA they’ll claim it was a home game for both teams.

I think I made it pretty clearSo? IMO don’t think the last bold should be a concern, since it would be their home game and that’s what happens.
I’d wouldn’t mind playing a home and home with St. John’s but the venue, MSG, it’s seems to many is more important. Which I agree with…Johnnies at MSG only and NEVER at Carnesseca.
So that being said, don’t really care who it is (SJU, Iona, Manhattan, Fordham) but I wouldn’t mind playing a NYC local there every year. And let it be their home game too. But never at their own actual on campus facility, as what’s the point?
Is it MSG or the opponent?I think I made it pretty clear
I was, and Am, an advocate for a .MSG game
yearly
I would have no problem with your list of possibilities except for St. John’s
If we play at your place, you play at ours next
If they don’t agree, play somebody else,
we have many possibilities as you list, and st john’s is the only problem
I actually would prefer a national team like Gonzaga. But if it had to be local, Iona would work. Not so exciting though
Reread my post just aboveIs it MSG or the opponent?
If it’s the former, who cares. We want to play there, right?
If it’s the latter then I’d rather it be like you said and have our game at the RAC.
But to me, i don’t see St. John’s as a problem in either scenario.🤷♂️
Obviously not as I’m not too sharp. It’s not you, it me. 🙂Reread my post just above
It is pretty clear

For me…love to play at MSG every year. Preferably as an away game against a local talent. Fine as a one and done with this set up too. Because I view it as the same Temple at the Linc for football, an away game but not really.
Or a holiday tournament before the B1G sked kicks in. My “Empire Classic” idea fits that scenario.
Not a fan of a neutral site (unless MSG and TV make it worth our while: $$$$ like MetLife did for our FB game) or as an away team ever few years as the B1G’s representative.
A great time and great gameIt was a league game.
MSU had a week to prepare.
MSU had a home game immediately after RU game.
Indiana had a home game hosting RU. No travel for Indy.
RU had to travel three games away from the RAC in less than a week.
Last two times at the RAC we beat MSU by 22 and 32. We cruise at the RAC. This was a struggle.
We were losing at the half and up to that point worst shooting percentage from floor and foul line all year.
Indiana away was within 48 hours from emotional MSU game.
This was after starting the season with conference favorites, Indy and Purdue, as two of first three games.
We got no credit for a neutral site game. Not our home court arena.
MSU intros
MSU pep band.
MSU fans at mid court.
MSU green on Scoreboard.
More MSU fans at MSG than would ever be at the RAC.
Mag got hurt!!!!!!! Coincidence, who knows, but why chance it? Didn’t happen at RU.
If truly about expanding RU brand and fan base, game would not have been at 12:00, the worst possible time for attendance. Could have been a sell out at 7:00?
Two predictable close losses at Indy and Illinois followed. Fresh legs, games go other way? Tired legs….
No other team voluntary gives away league home games.
We subsequently learn post game no new contract has been signed so a chance we will never make up this lost “home” game.
Coach Pike indicated he would much rather play a league game at the RAC. Politely saying this is crap.
Coach Pike repeatedly indicated the difficulty of three consecutive league games away from home.
We really didn’t have a real league homestand all year.
Unmitigated mess. B1G treats us like a poor step child. It was a great crowd for sure but does not erase all the other negatives. Never ever give up a home league game at the RAC again. It’s a bad idea for RU!!!!! I think unfortunately turned our season around the wrong way. Hard to argue otherwise. To all those who blasted me, those comments didn’t age very well and apologies accepted.
Hopefully we play someone else there insteadPitino/SJU pulled out of the MSG agreement. After what happened to RU with the MSG ”home game”, they’ll only play at MSG if they are the home team. They don’t want to agree to a neutral site MSG game now and risk getting screwed by the NCAA later. Of course, RU won’t agree to that.
