Anyone remember

When Phil sellers said we own the garden. And back then we did. No reason it shouldn't be so!

It's not the '70s anymore. There's a black market for elite college basketball players that's more challenging than all the other sports, and Rutgers is a small market franchise, so to speak. Lol

If we ever really win again, it would be great to go to NY. The NIT finals were a taste of that. But we need to be a top 25 team for that to happen. I'll shoot for .500 first

unfortunately that was before Fred turned the Big East invitation down and put the program out of business as other programs rose from noting

The idea that NYC and MSG are the meccas of college basketball is a long outdated notion. Those days are over, and over for good.

Of course its still attractive to play in NYC. If it wasn't the B1G and ACC wouldn't be playing there. But NYC, and the northeast in general, is no longer the epicenter of the college basketaball universe as it once was.

I do -saw every game from 73-77. Really believe Eddie should stay. He got our guys open often enough to win- the guys just missed. I believe that will change and Rutgers is on its way if Jordan stays.

Just missed?...and that will change why...and they just do not play defense

Do you think the depleted bench caused a concern about foul trouble and conserving energy when playing defense? Jordan seemed to understand defense as a player, so my guess is it's more of a priority to him than you imply.

what was the excuse the previous two years with not playing defense. Jordans teams didnt play defense in the NBA either. His teams consistently leave wide open 3s and are late in switching and it has more to do with conserving energy. The non conference slate with almost everyone healthy was hellacious defense and not in a good way

Well, that school up in South Orange seems to have answered that challenge fairly well.
I'm not disagreeing with your point, but I think for RU it's more a lack of interest in the men's basketball program by those who call the shots at RU.
