With 7 regular season games left,3 more wins would guarantee a .500 record regardless of a one and done in the B1G postseason tournament. 16-16 would be amazing, and a great recruiting tool for Coach Pikiell going forward. It might even get Rutgers into the CBI which would give the program a much needed experience to build on.In one year Coach Pikiell has gotten this program to the level Coach Rice had us at in year one, without all the baggage that came with it. Next year, I see us at a Coach Waters level program, and then the sky's the limit with a B1G Conference and a BTN national network to sell recruits. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutgers_Scarlet_Knights_men's_basketball#Seasons

What baggage in Rice's year one? The baggage didn't come out until later.

To answer your question none of the teams left on our schedule are unbeatable and have all lost to each other including bad loses. If we actually play a second half the way we play the first half of games we can compete with anyone.

The team has played well and had the lead in a lot of the games played this year. It's definitely doable, but it will be tough.

Yup it didn't come out until year 3,but you don't think it was a toxic environment from the get go, and caused a recruiting problem early on,really? Do you think it was peaches and cream in year one, and went down hill to the point players were leaving before year 2 or the story went viral in year 3? I only point this out because you found a need to correct me on a situation most of us on this very board were hearing about from some well informed posters, very early on. Coach Rice, like Coach Bannon, and Coach Waters were very good basketball men, that for very different reasons, all failed to stay long enough to turn the program around. Coach Pikiell, hopefully will get a chance to run the course of his contract.

Sorry man, but Byruta left after his sophomore year. That was a pretty big red flag.

While I am sure Rice's behavior started from the get go in year 1, lets keep it real; I don't recall anyone leaving "before year 2". Biruta and Austin Carroll left after year 2 of Rice's tenure (after each of their Soph seasons). Biruta certainly stung and was clearly a sign that things were "not right", Austin Carroll was regarded as a borderline Big East talent before his ACL and was thought to be one of those unfortunate "roster management" departures.

Biruta would fit in well because he could not make foul shots.

Not sure there's a need to discuss mike rice any longer. He was a good coach who got a raw deal because of video camera and a disgruntled assistant with a plan to extort money. He succeeded in that plan. Leave mike rice alone please. Enough is enough already.

Yes, there's 3 more wins out there. I think home against Minny, Michigan and Illinois are three very winnable games and I wouldn't be surprised if we knock off OSU on the road. Our guys found a way to close out a win on the road, almost knocked off Wisconsin and are starting to hit some big shots. .500 or better would be incredible. If not for northwestern's season, who was more of a surprise than Rutgers? We are in very good hands with our basketball future.

everyone was happy about Rice in year 1 and he signed 7 big time prospects for year 2. It was sometime after year 2 that Murdock spread bad stuff out to the street and it killed recruiting with guys like Josh Hart and the kid that I think went to Syracuse...that torpedoed recruiting

Murdock is a disaster. The kid blackmailed Rutgers and that's okay?? Biruta was a decent player and his transfer definitely hurt. We were building something but yet still didn't have the schools full support in a very difficult conference.

We have that support now in every aspect from the coaches salary to the assistants salaries and the practice center construction. It is just a different time right now in our program. But this coach can not only coach the fundamentals and strategy to win at this level; he's clearly connected with his team and starting to build the relationships needed to land a blue chip class in 2018. I also think Geo is going to turn heads in the big 10.

I expressed my feelings on another thread and they are exactly what bowlgoal stated. We must win one game this week and than hopefully over Michigan and Illinois. It would be amazing if we should ever get to 16 wins.
