Ash's defense v. Indiana

With a lot more talent than Indiana, Ash's defense at OSU gave up 27 points and 400 yards of offense two years in a row to Indiana, and it was not in garbage time. Having not watched those games, I wonder if Indiana's scheme poses particular problems for Ash's defensive philosophy. Thoughts?

Every game left will be a shootout, but can we score enough points to win. Defense won't hold any team down.

I don't think you can use any of what has happened because Indiana's offense isn't like it has been. They rely more on defense than before and are not the high powered offense they have been. They will take grinding a game out if need be but alsso still can go in a hurry up. Their QB's don't have the big arms and their best receiver(like you folks) has been out for the year since the first game. They will rely as much on the QB running as they will throwing. If they get a good play(7+ yards) they will go into hyper speed mode and they are very good at it. They won't substitute and will run plays as fast as the ball is set for play. Their defense is light years better than it has been and they play with speed and create havoc. Should be a good game.

Schiano's OSU D gave up 402 and 27 this year. There's goes that theory. Maybe OSU just takes IU too lightly, year-after-year, that's all.

I didn't have a theory, I was just hoping to prompt a discussion among guys who are more X's-and-O's savvy than I am.

Our Senior-laden D-Line has had 2 weeks to prepare for Indy, I expect a solid showing there.
The LB's are a different issue...

With Indiana's hurry up Offense mode that should bode well for us.
Our Defense see its everyday in practice.
Win the turnover battle and we win this game.
Also this will be the first game that all three Safeties will be ready and available for RU.

Indiana's D is not good, and their offense had all those yards last week because they used the Wildcat a lot and UMD wasn't prepared for it ... I can see us winning by a few scores.

Need to get into backfield to stop wildcat. Get aggressive on defense don't want to see our lbs catching a 270lb guy at the 5 yd line and falling into the endzone. have the lb''s beat him to the holes.

We're gonna play man like always and hopefully returning safeties help us defend stuff over the middle. Controlled pressure from the Dline and disrupting passing lanes would help.
