Has construction begun on this yet? If not, when is the start date?
Are they waiting for NJ legislature to approve the $25 million.?

Ground has already been broken. Should start to see more movement in the fall. No they're not waiting because I believe it already has been.

The $25 million was approved at least over a year ago. Essentially zero has been done at the site but Hobbs has been talking about stuff coming out of the ground this Fall which it damn well better.

Priority became Battaglia practice thing, as they are being done by the same company.

Pace should be significantly improved in September!
Actually, pre-development for a structure takes a lot more time than does a practice field - one thing did not have anything to do with the other. The football facility also had a very small group providing day-to-day input. The multi-sport has more cooks. They are reportedly on schedule to have full plans by the end of October which is pretty quick - especially if they get dirt moving immediately thereafter. There is a big push to get this done ahead of schedule.

The B1G Build kicked off about 19 months ago. Let's go. Hobbs set a target date about 6 months ago of July 2019 and last time time he was quoted the July part wasn't mentioned. Color me skeptical.

Not how it was explained to me by someone who'd know....But hey, however long it takes, it's an epic step forward for RU athletics!

A $5 mil. practice field came in over schedule. I'm also very skeptical that same company is going to get a $115 mil. facility on schedule. This one's going to go way over schedule as well.

Not ashamed to admit that this pisses me off more than a little. Tired of men's basketball being treated like field hockey. Again.

The project is bidding 9/8. It most likely will be awarded the end of September or October and then it starts

The target date has not changed. Have faith - we now have people that know how important this project is and they are as focused on getting it done as all of us on these boards. As mentioned above, the plans need to be done for formal bidding to occur. The plan remains to have dirt moving this year and if that happens, it should be done on time. What Hobbs and his team did with the football practice facility was extraordinary. They will get the multi-sport done and more importantly done right.

The bid goes off on September 8th

Hobbs specifically stated that the facility would be "coming out of the ground" by October, but bids are only going out Sept. 8th?
The General Contractor can have their heavy machinery starting at that time which theoretically is coming out of the ground. All depends on the bid, if they are within budget and when it is awarded. The company iI work for is in school construction and I see this project on the bidding service. When Rutgers bids GC jobs they have a select group of GC's that cab bid on their projects. We have worked with a few of them who are reputable.

What do you mean "over schedule?" The Battaglia Complex was scheduled to open in early August, and it did.

Hobbs has said repeatedly that the Barnabas Center (that's what I'm calling it) will be open by fall 2019. Nothing has changed that target date.

Someone hasn't seen the RU recruiting for basketball or is unaware of what our assistant coaches have been doing on the recruiting trail, to be whining about the timing of this being built........the facility will be done and done on time and that is the least of my worries...amazing that some fans are still thinking this is the same RU of years ago, when everything or every sort of indications and information screams 100% the opposite.

And the Battaglia project was a huge step forward and another feather in the cap of RU....2017 has been pretty much 100% positive for everything hoops right now, I have ZERO complaints right now.

Ok putting down sod 3 weeks before closing a house is on time. Putting sod down 3 weeks before a football team is going to practice on it is behind schedule. Great they had the opening ceremony on time but we can't practice on it every day for a reason. That reason, sod takes 6 weeks to grow roots and take hold.

That's like opening the Barnabas Center(good name choice I'll use that from now on) holding the ceremony but there's no hoops/backboards, wrestling mats or gymnastic apparatus in the building. But really my original point is mute, until we find out who the contractor is. I thought that was already established. Apparently not.

P.S. to the war and peace novelist, yes I follow recruiting and know we are doing quite well. However a tangible structure to show recruits is better than blueprints on a drawing board and will help tremendously.

That's absurd. But if you'd like to look at the negative - go ahead! Like Hawk said, under Hobbs and his terrific team, RU athletics is getting an A+ For what they are doing facilities-wise at this point. Getting that practice facility done in the time they did at RU was nothing short of a miracle.

Right on Hawk! Imagine what this head coach will be able to do once the practice facility is open, there has been success on the court and Hobbs is able to do a full RAC renovation.

Could not start until spring practice was over and it was a very wet spring that slowed things down.

Have you driven by the RAC lately? Nothing done since the "groundbreaking" 10 months ago. This is not the least of our worries this is the most of our worries because we need this thing yesterday. And if it looks like it's not going to open on time, The staff will have a tougher sales job. I don't want to hear any bs that this essential piece of bringing the men's basketball program back from the dead is delayed because some football thing was the priority. There will always be another thing that football "needs" now. Just get it done. This has to be priority 1, 2, and 3 for the next 23 months.

What you're missing here is that there was NEVER an intent to have building commence before this fall. So they're NOT "behind." They are right on schedule.

Funny there were know it alls on this very board claiming that work could not be done last winter because a large structure like this could not be started in the winter but in the spring things would be rocking and rolling. Now here we are heading into fall and still the same progess. I am not complaining but pointing out that people just outright making things up on these boards so they can give the appearance of being all knowing.

Yeah, this is clearly KILLING us on the recruiting trail.

Holy crap some people will bitch about anything.

We just had the best rutgers year ever with this stuff

And a couple of you continue to grind your axes.

Give it a rest.

To me this has more to do with Pikiell. Hopefully in the future he will be recruited. Being the obvious 2nd fiddle is a negative.

I totally get why football is top priority though.

"Still the same progress" is just not true. As mentioned numerous times above - you can't build until plans are done. The plans are now nearly done. We are moving quickly and are on schedule. Dirt will be moving before the end of the year - hopefully by Halloween.

An old thought process is there has to be another school with the finances to match what the staff can earn here....in years past, yes that would be a concern....in two years, that concern goes out the window.

Our top two assistant coaches earn double what some competitors earn and it shows now on the results....and the reality is that RU will be a destination and we are just keeping up with the bulk of the B1G recruiting wise, so a comparable staff elsewhere is getting very similar results at another B1G school....that means RU will be winning or competitive in the marketplace for the future....

The facility is not the sole reason we are recruiting well....it's a mentioning point.....the effort each day, in the gym, the personalities of the staff, the grinding, the salesmanship, the caring about the players/their families is what's winning things over.....building a facility is icing on the cake, but is not ever going to replace a coaching staffs efforts....the schools we beat for Mathis and we will beat ALL had better facilities, higher paid staffs, they just got outworked by Pike/Knight/Hobbs/Young etc.....it would actually be insulting to the coaches efforts to say that a practice facility not starting when it wasn't expected to be started, it going to impact anything....I don't know what was sold last summer for Geo Baker and others, but we are 2 years from the expected completion of the project, so any recruit now, will have this facility at their disposal.

We built these things on time for Schiano, Flood and now Ash and I don't know one parent of a recruit that said, "man if they had finished the drainage system on that field 3 months ago, my son would have decided on RU"....

Why do we have to complain about everything, and 1/2 of this thread is just made up things to whine about? We are getting a practice facility for BB and we just got new beautiful facilities for football. For years we have stated that we needed to be on par with other big schools. We are finally getting it, and people are still whining about how long it is taking?

Stop being coy. People here are talking about tangible visible progress. If you know please state what things we are moving quickly on. Taking an entire year just to come up with the plans does not seem quick to me. I think people understand plans need to be completed. My specific comment was with regard to the ground breaking a year ago that was not followed up with full scale construction and people on this board claiming the reason was because of winter which has proven to be not true.

There is a huge difference between rolling sod on your lawn and a professional athletic Installtion. It was done and ready on time and they played on it in the rain. If the professionals were worried, there is no way that would have happened.

They had a ceremonial ground breaking - in large part to spark increased interest in the Big 10 Build initiative. That's the way these things are done. Have you spoken to Hobbs? Were you there or at any subsequent event? He could not have been clearer the numerous times I have heard him speak about it and as recently as two weeks ago, they were on target. The facility is planned to open June 2019. Obviously, in construction, things can slide do to weather, etc., but one way to minimize that risk is to be thorough with the plans and the bid. Enjoy the fact that after decades of talk, things are finally happening.

Unfortunately our fans have never learned how to be fans. I remember the day that our dance team won nationals! Let's face it, our school has rarely put a product out that really warrants our fandom. And yet we continue to come and watch year after year.

Who else listened to RSU to hear us lose to Santa Clara in soccer? I wanted so bad to have a major national championship.

It's not easy to go to work and have to lay 30 points (in football and basketball) just to win a lunch against a coworker. And when they pay out because we covered, it's almost insulting. For years I would only bet straight up, then I realized that those saying my father would tell me growing up were true....money doesn't grow on trees, and I guess a sucker is born every minute.

That all being said, I find myself excited once again by the product we are putting out there now. There have been marked improvements by the university, and that hopefully should sustain the momentum that feels to be growing.

Go RU....make us proud.....please!
