Atrocious Team Leadership

I gained a lot of respect for Ron especially as he’d publicly own the losses or responsibility for some of the poor performances or bad games. I appreciated his honor in that regard and not dismissing the fans. In turn he gained a lot of respect from the fan base. He knows how bad people wanted the team to win and that meant a lot to him. Geo no doubt felt that way too and gave fans someone to rally around. Paul and Caleb obviously want the same things but they don’t express it like Ron and Geo. Just not the same types of personality. It’s what makes some people better leaders than others.

Yeah after PM got stripped and the score happened he immediately was motioning with his hands and clearly mouthing “sense of urgency” and something like “guys need to have a sense of urgency”. I was confused. Are you saying the guys not quickly enough getting into the set is what caused you to get stripped at mid court?
Even if it was, it was bad form. Own the mistake or at the least you don’t make it seem like it was the fault of others.
Throughout the year with too much whining to the refs (and he’s usually wrong). Etc etc.
Oh and did anyone catch him being aggressive with driving to the basket in I think the last 2 possessions?! I actually was pretty upset about it happening then lol.
Paul WE NEED YOU being aggressive and looking to score wayyyyy more frequently. Your footwork and craftiness in the lane are A+. Please please do this more frequently these last few remaining games!

Terrible thread, IMO. Nobody was questioning their leadership when we were playing well or when they both played through injuries. We lost Mag from a team without a lot of quality depth - it really has hurt. Pretty sure Paul and Caleb are just as disappointed as the fans are, but calling them out so harshly is just a bad look, IMO.

No one said that Paul and Caleb don’t care. They’re just not offensive weapons and make poor decisions with the ball.

GO RU

Paul Mulcahy and Caleb McConnell have really dropped the ball as senior leaders. They’ve let their team down big time. They have not stepped up at all for their team in these last few games when needed. Guess they’re just pieces of a team and not leaders.
This site is full of whiny losers. Not many leaders here.

Don't forget grabbing his shoulder. It seems to hurt when he makes a mistake.
Right - tough talk from a keyboard warrior!

His coach and teammates insist he is tough as nails. They consider him a warrior out there.

The kid has been seen on the bench crying after some tough losses. Of course, you would call him a sissy, but the reality is that the kid just wants to win so bad he lets it all hang out.

Much of any problems he has on the court is fueled by that intensity and difficulty in harnessing it.

If you have a whole team with those kinds of problems, you are going to win a ton of games.

Such players may not be popular with other fanbases, but opposing coaches and players understand what he brings.

Paul and Caleb do all the hard thankless things. Maybe they don’t put up a lot of points because that’s not their game. They are true leaders with work ethic and just grind every game. These guys are Rutgers greats and should be appreciated much more than what is reflected in this thread.
