noticed him sitting first row behind our bench. Doesn’t seem like the smartest game to bring your top target to knowing it’s Winter break and attendance would be light.

I know the kid is in high school but he was on his phone the entire game. Even at the biggest moments down the stretch and in OT he barely looked up. Not saying this to be negative or that it’s wrong but it just struck me as odd.

Can’t imagine he left excited.

@Russ Wood maybe you can shed some light. Is this normal of recruits? Was this an official? If so, why a game on Christmas break?

I'll hit him up to see what he says about the visit, game, atmosphere etc. My guess is that he wanted to come up to Rutgers to see a game and his schedule & the Rutgers schedule had lots of conflicts so he was able to make it to this game. But I'll ask him.

As far as kids being on their phones throughout games, it is not too uncommon. Heck, half of the time that coaches are at a kid's game they are on their phones.

Appreciate it! That’s what I figured. Would have loved for him to see the atmosphere last Saturday.

Agree with you on the timing being odd. However, I will add that I'm sure a lot of teams out there experience games like this when they have recruits come to visit.

He's from the Mount Vernon NY area, so likely here for RU, then home for Christmas/New Years break....

Atmosphere was just fine for the crowd and game. We didn’t win.

The collapse/loss made it even worse but the choice to bring him to a game with 3k fans and the students on winter break opposed to a sold out rivalry game the week before vs a ranked opponent is my question.

By no means am I saying that was the choice, because I genuinely don't know if last saturday was even an option for him to come. All im saying is it probably wasn't a good thing for our top target to come to a half empty building and see us have an epic collapse against a low level team.

Aundre finally hmu tonight when I was driving to a game.

Said he enjoyed the game and despite the students not being there the RAC was loud. He said the coaches showed him lots of love and that he met with Coach in his office after the game. Aundre said that he was home visiting family and came to the game with an old AAU Coach. Said it was the only time he could make it to a game.

He's in SC right now because his HS team is playing in a holiday tournament.
