Agreed, but we have zero depth at the position after this year.If healthy I think Konopka can be a very good player

His red shirt is long gone. He’s played in 7 gamesThere is Higgins red shirting
That I would take in a second.
Doing what ?If healthy I think Konopka can be a very good player
Nope, guys starting out there and putting up very good numbers are vastly different than guys leaving P5 and finally putting up average stats in the MAC like Cole Snyder for example. These guys? Remember the narrative on this board: the MAC is lower level competition for players who cannot cut it in the P5, especially the B1G. They would die against B1G teams. That's the narrative.

I believe that he was signaled out for his blocking on a number of occasions.Doing what ?
Like I said. Zero depth. 2 TEs.
RU has Blake Logan verbally committed and there is debate on whether Famah Toure is a WR or TE in college. And all the TEs on the offer list have signed elsewhere. I guess you hope for a flip or a transfer
Stewart and Munnerlyn I think lined up there on the goal line against MSU.Like I said. Zero depth. 2 TEs.
Yeah skinny high school kids sometimes gain weight and already know how to play the game. They could be very good.Nope, guys starting out there and putting up very good numbers are vastly different than guys leaving P5 and finally putting up average stats in the MAC like Cole Snyder for example.
The former have proven they have the potential to play at a higher level while the latter have found the right level of competition for themselves.
He’s a big target too. Hands look pretty good. Got injured early this year so not sure what the other guy is questioningI believe that he was signaled out for his blocking on a number of occasions.
I’ve ever said that. The one kid was 3x all state in basketball and was recruited as a QB. They moved him to TE this yearThese guys? Another position added to the list of Recruits that we desperately need.Like I said. Zero depth. 2 TEs.
Like @colbert17 said, he's our best blocking TE. We really miss his work. Langan at least tries but sucks at it, Alaimo doesn't even try.Doing what ?
I never said you said it. That guy sounds like Konopka, who played hoops.I’ve ever said that. The one kid was 3x all state in basketball and was recruited as a QB. They moved him to TE this year
He put his name in the portal. He played? Was it a trick play-he is not on the roster at scarletknights.com ? But even if he did, he is gone after this year.Stewart and Munnerlyn I think lined up there on the goal line against MSU.
For him to be a very good player, he needs an OC that calls plays for him and a QB to throw him the ball.If healthy I think Konopka can be a very good player

I may have missed it, but like I said, he is not listed on the roster at all on the website:Munnerlyn did not play per the RU participation report. It's likely he was not even on the travel roster given he's already announced his intent to enter the portal on Dec. 5th.
Once you announce that you're going to the portal they usually remove you from the roster.I may have missed it, but like I said, he is not listed on the roster at all on the website:

I posted what I did so no one else actually thinks he played last week.
It's a little early to say such a thing about a QB playing his first season of meaningful snaps. While his stats may be average for the MAC, he has done fairly well in his first year as indicated by his TD/INT ratio. His OL has not been much help- while he is mobile, he's been sacked 25 times, indicating he is under pressure a lot. Time will tell how he does.Nope, guys starting out there and putting up very good numbers are vastly different than guys leaving P5 and finally putting up average stats in the MAC like Cole Snyder for example.

On the pay side, the staff here have said he would be QB4 if he stayed. Take that for what it's worth. It's a little early to say such a thing about a QB playing his first season of meaningful snaps. It's funny how people twist a narrative one way for certain players/former players, and twist it another for others. Whatever. We shall see.
That is fine as far as last year when Simon left. However, we saw how Simon did. The question is did Cole get a "fair" shot? That's up for debate and depends on who is making the call on what is fair. Maybe he would not have seen game action like Simon did if he stayed. Maybe he would have seen game action considering how Simon performed. On the pay side, the staff here have said he would be QB4 if he stayed. Take that for what it's worth.
Cole was QB2 all the way through the Illinios game last year which was like game 8. Noah went out and Cole had a huge chance to shine at that moment. He played so poorly that it forced Noah back into the game and he played hurt the rest of the way. It also was the impetus for rolling the dice with Gavin on that critical 4th down. That is fine as far as last year when Simon left. However, we saw how Simon did. IMO, while practice reps are important, you never really know how a player, particularly a QB, will perform until they see game action. No practice replicates game action where the QB will get hit and face pressure that they do not face in practice.
Back to Simon, it seems people wrote him off pretty quickly. Consider that with a fairly equal number of attempts 103 vs. 123, both Simon and Wimsatt have the same TD/INT ratio. Would Simon have improved with more experience? Perhaps, and perhaps not. But what is clear now is that Wimsatt is the best QB on the roster and he is continuing to improve as the game slows down for him. The problem we have, however, is if Simon leaves (a very good possibility), we have one scholarship QB on roster, and we certainly do not want to have to count on a true freshman. We should have 3 scholarship QBs on the roster.
As I said in the Snyder thread, his leaving was the best move for him, and he got what he sought- the starting QB job. But if he was indeed told he was #4 and that was his motivation to leave, wonder if he would have seen game action as an either/or scenario when Simon got the starts and faltered a bit.
And this is not an indictment of Simon. I hope he stays, as he could learn and grow too. Maybe his Nebraska game was the equivalent of Gavin's Michigan game (against a much tougher defense) with 3 picks, and then in the next game, he put it all together. We may find out, or we may never know. These are not easy decisions.
Running up the middle out of the Wildcat when everybody in the stadium knows it's coming.Doing what ?
You're basing judgements on 5 passing attempts in a single game? That is ludicrous. What if we used the same standard on Wimsatt and shelved him after BC and Minnesota? Or we did the same with Mike Teel in his early starts? Or Gary Nova?Cole was QB2 all the way through the Illinios game last year which was like game 8. As we don't have access to practice we don't know how Cole looked the remainder of the way. However, Evan seemed to be the first QB off the bench when Noah was out of the game after that for Gleeson.
You can ignore that most of that drive was run play to slant it if you wish...lol. He was awful on every pass attempt & literally killed the offensive flow which is why Noah played hurt the rest of the game. Many were screaming for him to be yanked in our game thread. You're basing judgements on 5 passing attempts in a single game? That is ludicrous. Besides, didn't he lead Rutgers to one of Rutgers only two touchdowns in a first series?

Let's just agree that Cole has found the right level for him and leave it at that.
As co-president of the Cole Snyder fan club, you are obviously triggered...lol.
Your post, basing judgment on a body of work that included 19 pass attempts for the season going into the Illinois game is a good candidate for Message Board Genius post of the year. High comedy.
