For all those on here who said he didn't care about football and wouldn't spend the money, what changed?

Guy went out and absolutely dominated today. Sure the new AD may not be a flashy name - but all early reports are that money will not be an issue in hiring a coach.

Barchi learned from the pernetti-rice fiasco that he has to take things into his own hands and when out and did it.

What say all you anti-barchi people?

He hasn't done anything yet that we can quantify. The quick move on the AD makes sense. But we have no clue whether he was a good hire. And the football coach will be the decision that really matters. So wait before announcing this a success. It has barely started.

To steal the most stolen phrase of the last 25 years, "It's the hire, stupid." Let's see what it is.

Oh please. Let us not give credence to a testicleless egg head president, who cares nothing for sports. Look beyond the smoke people. Barchi doesn't have the balls to do this.

Have to disagree that nothing has been done we can quantify. -He removed KF as RU's head coach. That's most assuredly something that can be quantified since Flood was taking this program directly into a brick wall. That might only be seen as a start, but it was a desperately needed start.

Clearly this wasn't something he just threw together on a whim, but has been formulating a plan of action for a while. Today he executed it...

Just reflect on the microcosm that yesterday was....a dysfunctional, toxic atmosphere from beginning to end;
A bizarre air of denial and accountability and a surprising lack of humility by coach flood during that press conf.
All in all, if the powers that be were on the fence about a decision to clean house.....then yesterday certainly validated a decision to move forward.

Devoted, I understand what you mean. But firing bad coaches has never been a problem at RU. We're great at that. We do it all the time. Every one of our ADs has fired bad coaches. Heck, Barchi just fired his second AD.

The firings are easy. They mean very little. The hire is what will matter. It's really all that matters. Let's see.

He was doing this behind the scenes.

There is a boss in town. Dr. Barchi is the name.

My buddy equated it to Godfather during the Christening. Power has been consolidated.

As one who has followed this program for a long time, I will remain skeptical until all this supposed money is spent on a good coach.

But I can say, I'm more hopeful now than I've been in a long time. Great day so far.

Willis, I understand where you're coming from, as well. But there were some on here who truly believed Flood wouldn't be shown the door; some even thinking he'd be here through 2017.

And I totally agree; the hire is the main matter. But you have to get rid of the bad coach first before you even have the opportunity to hire a better one, and at the very least that's been done.

Flood had a better W-L record than coaches we fired in the past. Firing him shows me a level of understanding about what is likely to drive success going forward than I was confident was in place.
