Barchi to Blink (Again)

Why don't we have the talent to replace all those? Oh that's right because the coaching staff has not been recruiting on a B1G level (see no top 10 NJ recruits how many years running now?). So yea we ran in to depth issues but they were created by the same staff who can't coach their way out of a box
Raritan you can't recruit on a B1G level until you are in tue B1G

Maybe. Why can't they self report and then scrub them?

I here you but its not about that. Protocol is that a school will usually send a letter to the NCAA notifying them of possible infractions. If there they are not ultimately considered a violation by the NCAA, what difference does it make? If they are, what athletic department would be allowed to scrub reports that led to the violations? There must at minimum be in the report the information that led to and substantiates the NCAA penalties. Once those OPRA letters go out and what happened is public information, It would be considered an attempt to cover-up damaging or embarrassing information to the university - they would be committing career suicide ... heads would roll.

I don't believe any of the reported rumors. But I'm curious. What agenda would would be advanced by stating rumors of Flood staying or going?

I've been reading this board for over a decade. I'm still amazed by how many believe when a guy with 350 posts comes on board and says the coach is getting canned with three weeks to go on the season and then get upset when the same guy says it's not happening 2 weeks later. Pretty funny.
---------
The number of posts a person has is probably not a great indicator of the persons connections....... We probably have a number of quiet, but connected posters around.

Today might be a situation here similar to a couple of years ago, when we won that late season S Fla game....just like this year we had fans calling for Floods head, some hoping to lose that game, but we did not

So, we had two things happen then, we had the coach do just enough to remain, plus the fact that we could not raise enough money if we wanted to make a big hire anyway.... It is pretty well known we looked around that year.

Today's situation might be no different..... Julie and/or Barchi knows the dollars and cents of this, and this time we have the president even less likely to want to change, and spend, it seems....And Flood might limp to the finish with a two game winning streak..... The coaching drama winds up with the same result.

The connected poster first reports that a change is coming, but then the late season wins coupled with financial reality causes a sudden reversal

I've been meaning to ask this. What leads anyone to believe that once we have our full share of Big Ten money that money will be spent on athletics?
That's the elephant in the room. The commitment is to break even, not produce a good product.

You mean being used as a pretext. Yes, I understand that. That's what I do not respect. I don't need a list of incredibly minor transgressions which includes his helping a player with his homework as a part of the discussion. It's an insult to our intelligence. Anyway, we should all be much more open minded towards cheating, since it's the only way any program achieves or maintains success in football. If we've got to fire flood because of a shitty product, then fire him because of a shitty product.
Now what you said at the end of your comment I completely agree.

I have no idea what will happen over the next 2 weeks. It would not surprise me one bit if the OP is dead on with this. It would be extremely disappointing though.

I know regardless of the coaching decision I will be reducing tickets next year. I am down from 5 tickets to 4 based on a lack of interest by previous ticket holders. Another ticket is likely gone if Flood is back, and a third is up in the air. There is a good chance I ultimately reduce to 2 tickets, which adversely effects our tailgating efforts, which in turn harms the overall enjoyment of game days. Two more years of this has me seriously questioning whether it's worth a 2 hour trip each way to watch this product.

If stupid fludd survives, he should write a book about how to be completely and utterly inept ad and still cash a check....

Nothing will surprise me...well, actually firing the joke of coach who should be selling women's shoes would surprise me....w can't do any worse...he was smart to sign a deal to make him cheap....

I thought someone already wrote that book: The Peter Principle. And there was a Broadway show: How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

TP gave this clown the gift of a lifetime. The truly funniest thing about this whole saga ... I will guarantee you that Flood actually believes he is a good coach, good recruiter, does not try to get the grades of his player's changed or is a complete tool that repeats 1-0 every day of his life causing the fan base and his very own players to make fun of him.

Everything we've read on this board regarding Flood is true. After all, it is the Internet!
:sunglasses:

Because it's a waste of time and energy. Great fun.

Generations come and go..but a thirst for blood is constant . Look at isis and this thread . Who cares who coaches rutgiz..we will always lose and then we will die

so all those that stop going to the games and who give up on RU will by extension stop posting on this board since they will stop giving a crap? doubt it --their complaining needs a venue

Don't know if anybody else is feeling this way, but I'm getting a bit inured (numbed) to this. When TP was fired, I was pretty outraged as I thought he got a raw deal. Got excited over the possibility of a new coach during the last "hey, we're getting a new coach" cycle, and have to say I got excited again this time.

And now, with the "not gonna happen" "gonna happen" back and forth, I'm sort of starting to just not care. Not outraged, indifferent. I'm the same way with the Giants, my long time pro team. They win, they lose, it doesn't bother me or excite me that much.

It's just that the passion, the hope, is getting tempered. I used to live and breathe this stuff. A new coaching staff and I think I could get excited again, but if the BOT and Barchi don't care, and those who might make things happen don't care (enough), I've got other things and other teams to get excited about.

The only thing that would make sense to me is that the effort to raise money to dump this guy is not going well and thus the word is getting out to either contribute or live with the status quo.

His first year on the job we made the announcement we were going to the conference so I don't buy your response.

Remember we had a really good class that first year until his policy of no visits caused an avalanche of decommits

I DON''T EVER WANT TO HEAR AGAIN FROM ANYONE THAT BARCHI IS A GREAT SCHOOL PRESIDENT.

I will be finished with football and the handful of people who love supporting Flood can enjoy watching us go 0 for 10 in the Class of 2017 NJ Top 10 next year and listen to our stadium get taken over by Michigan and PSU next year.

Keep thinking Kyle Flood is this great guy. I have never seen someone so unqualified able to be so arrogant and manipulate people and keep thinking Julie Hermann is this great AD. She can't even make the decision to keep him or fire him, what does that tell you?

You haven't been reading this board enough. She's a great AD who's hands are tied. It's all Flood and Barchi's fault. Any thoughts to the contrary mean you are a misogynist or a homophobe.

LOL. YOU LOST ME AT FRONT RUNNER....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

if Flood is back you can take my -6 tix to the bank. F the priority points. I don't sit between the 20's anyway.

So the school can lose a 37 year guy for the first time thru all this BS over the years...fine. (and yeah, I already DID email Julie).

I cannot tell you how much I hope this is just BS...

I feel 100% exactly as Zappaa stated. I didn't go to a couple of game this year (first time VERY long time and I didn't miss anything but more train wreck coaching and play). I can find other stuff to do and teams to watch. I will be done. I'll spot buy and attend here and there.
I agree 100%. I will be done. I gave Flood his chance. Tired of the small time thinking. I will buy my tickets on Stubhub for 2 or 3 games.

You don't understand how it works. When attorneys are hired to investigate something, the reports are sent to the client in draft form and are subject to client comments and edits. The attorneys won't lie in their report, but they will absolutely change the content and narrative to fit what the client is looking for. No one would pay lawyers to write a report they had no control over. Whether it is inside or outside counsel, Rutgers is the one paying for this report, so they will have full say in the finished product. The report will not go into "final" form without the school signing off on it. It is always done like this. The client is the customer, nd the lawyers will make sure the customer is happy.

Exactly right. And in litigation drafts of opinions are not subject to discovery, protected by attorney client privilege and/or attorney work product, except for the rare instance where it is shown the opinion was used to commit a crime or fraud.

Fludd continuing to coach a P5 team is BOTH a crime and a fraud.

So, there's that...

I respect anyone who is for a change on account of the on-field product. I would support a change. But if he's coming back, he's coming back. I'm not going to cry and stop going to RU games. I've been going to games through much worse times than this because I actually like it. But we all want a winning team first and foremost.

Like I said, I respect that. But don't give me the August Keith Sargent piece as a reason to fire him. If you really want to fire a coach for such a minor infraction, you'll never beat Urban Meyer or James Franklin or Greg Schiano for that matter.

it is simple..and it is not the incidents and it is not the record. The coaching SUCKS and his decisions regarding the QB play are horrible and RB rotation is a close 2nd. He is a bullcrapper saying "best chance to win". He doesn't even want to try to win leaving this guy in game after game.

The fact they didn't fire the guy after the academic scandal tells a lot about the administration. "Pathetic" is too kind of a word for the leadership our school is experiencing.

Be honest, you don't want to give up the tailgate...:D

And they're getting the cart b4 the horse -- to increase donations they administration must show better decision making, because people will give more $$ when hope exists. But with RU it's just a cluster flub of an institution and why throw good money after bad.

If "stupid flood" survives maybe he isn't that stupid. He will have called their bluff and outsmarted Barchi, JH, and convinced enough money guys to keep him around.

sorry. can somebody remind me exactly what it will cost to get rid of Flood. ? wasn't it $1.5mil?

WORST CASE...keep the rest of the staff for a year and get rid of just the horse's a$$.

Which is evidence you can indeed be rich AND stupid...

right? and if that was the case maybe I'll just continue to tailgate :) ... one is not required to purchase a ticket, get strapped to a seat with eyes duck taped open.. Leaving before the mess on the field may be the perfect ending to a great tailgate.

You could actually bring on Schiano, and keep the rest of the staff, since he is already familiar with most of the assistants anyways, having already worked with them. Rossi needs a mentor like Schiano, IMO.
