Rightfully so, Pikiell has been lauded for his coaching. Jay Young has been credited with improving the big men's defensive play also. Both are eminently visible to all fans, including my nonprofessional observance. Besides recruiting, what on court improvements and contributions have some of you better versed in coaching, noticed from Knight and Hobbs?

We are now occasionally running some effective inbounds plays. Also running some plays after timeouts that have worked.

The area needing the most improvement clearly is shooting which is a skillset usually addressed through recruiting. The dismal foul shooting is evidence that coaching has limited positive impact on players performance.Coaches can teach running plays but it takes execution and talent to put the ball in the basket .

Agree with JMM78 we are so limited in what we do because of the lack of shooting that they can't even run plays to get anyone open for a 3 pointer because no one can knock down the shot; It is the same as in football if you don't throw the ball downfield the defense can pack the box; To me it is remarkable that we have done this well with such a lack of shooting and that is all positive on the coaches

I guess what I'm really asking is what part of the game are Knight and Hobbs responsible for?

Effort/hustle, especially on D and the boards Doesn't happen often unless it is a point of emphasis by the coaches.

I have to believe coach and staff are urging our guards to push the tempo to try and score in transition.
Mental toughness is vastly improved.
Effort and hustle are night and day.
The guys are having FUN playing.
Basketball IQ? That's a different story and will take some time. Rome wasn't built in a day.
