Saturday

Minnesota at Penn State
Nebraska at Michigan
Maryland at Illinois

Sunday

Rutgers at Indiana
Michigan State at Ohio State
Iowa at Northwestern

the more games that get played the more you to start to see who might be contenders and who are going to be the bottom feeders. I think on a given night everyone is beatable except for Wisconsin and I think every team can do it except for Rutgers and maybe OSU.

Big game for Minnesota, thats a game a NCAA team needs to win. Ditto for Northwestern at home against surging Iowa. Ohio State season has gone up in flames, one last shot against MSU to turn it around on a national tv game. Illinois has a shot at legitimcy if they can beat Maryand. Michigan is desperate for a win now, lets see how good Nebby is. Indiana is salivating at their matchup with Rutgers.

I'm a Maryland guy and think the Terps should be lower. Purdue, Michigan State and Minnesota are all better, in my opinion...

Except for the team in NJ they are all the same. There is not a Final 4 team in the bunch, but only 1 slouch.

Scarily, the league is young and will get a lot better.

How about this for a question.......

How many wins do you need to escape the 10-14 game? 7 or even 8?

How many losses will the last double bye team have (4th seed)? 6?

I think 8-10 gets you out of the first round game.

the 4 seed will have 7 losses, a big logjam after that and the tiebreakers guys will be working overtime

oh its all very close...I had to penalize Purdue for that loss last night and Michigan State needed to be penalized for the awful performance vs Penn State and Minnesota had to be penalized for the beatdown they got by MSU

I'm not buying Minnesota yet, but I agree that I'd probably have MD at 4 behind MSU and Purdue. The analytics may end up screwing MD in the long run too when it comes to either making the tourney or seeding, because very few of the algorithm-based sites like them very much right now. A site like KenPom puts virtually no stock in wins vs. losses and because MD doesn't blow teams out, they find themselves at 55+ in KenPom. Doesn't really make much sense, but the committee outwardly said the other day that they would take these analytics seriously.

Minnesota blew a huge lead and lost at PSU 52-50, its the kind of loss you cant if they want to make the NCAA tourney, yes PSU is proving to better than expected but the Minny schedule will get tougher from here. They had a double digit lead in this game so its not just the loss its the way they have played the last two games. Meanwhile while it looked like a good number of people there, it was very quiet, absolutely no atmosphere at Bryce Jordan

Michigan 91 Nebby 85.....both teams really turned it up on offense. Nebby can shoot but it looks like the fast start and upsets was more of a case of sneaking up on opponents as now we see a little settling back. They will compete in games for sure and probably get a couple more upsets but there chances for a NCAA tourney with so many losses already are pretty dim. Michigan needed this win to end their skid. I dont think this is a great team and its really going to need some quality wins as the season goes on to vault them into the tournament

The analytics will come to Maryland as they rack up top-50 RPI wins. Maryland's problem is that it doesn't have a signature win...yet. Wisconsin and Purdue are still to come, so there are opportunities on the schedule.

Maryland is one of the hottest teams in the league right now. They're in first place in the league at 16-2, 4-1 and are 9-1 in their last 10 games. The Terps has lost a game to a team outside of the RPI top-50 and should have a RPI around 20 or so after today's win at Illinois. They'll also likely get back into the AP and Coaches Polls next week.

KenPom's algorithm has seemed to hate Maryland the last few years. Maryland has won more Big Ten games than every school but Wisconsin since joining the league, but has never been the highest ranked B1G team in the KenPom rankings.

Having Morrow out for NU really hurts them. He should be back in another week. He's been good for double doubles almost every game. He's kind of there enforcer underneath the basket.

I don't think anybody in Nebraska has even thought they would make the tourney. We are just thrilled we aren't getting our shit pushed in every game. This was always going to be a very transition year since Andrew White left. The freshmen have proven to be more college ready than most thought. At least they are somewhat fun to watch. Next year expectations go way up. Especially with the Georgetown transfer coming in. He was the 23rd ranked player out of high school. Former 5*.

I wish Rutgers has made the same impact as Maryland basketball teams in the B1G.

down goes Michigan State...OSU gets their first win of the year leaving RU as the only winless Big 10 team and probably you can say any of the other 13 schools can beat each other on a given day except RU

Looks like MSU will be up and down all year long so yeah I feel confident having Maryland up in the top 3. I dont get why Maryland doesnt get respect, all they do is win, you dont have to win by alot, you just have to know how to win.

you were right, MSU isnt all that good...well all that consistent...they still are 4-2, I see Penn State falling back tho, not sold on them, they play Indiana at home next

Can you come to the Maryland board and post this for the idiot fans who want Mark Turgeon fired?

I don't think people actually want him fired, especially right now. The overwhelming majority though thinks that he needs work from an execution standpoint, specifically on the offensive end.

For me, his subbing patterns is the most frustrating thing, but everyone knows he's going to be at MD for another 5+ years.

Preface: Sorry for all the Terrapin posts, people.

I think Shimmy and Binge would agree that Turgeon has done a real good job righting the ship. We all love NJ-boy Gary Williams and don't like to acknowledge that the ship needed righting, but it did. I'm getting ahead of myself here, but if he could hit a third straight Sweet Sixteen this year with three freshmen starters, I'll consider the ship righted.
