I was watching a mini documentary on him on youtube. This kid really is something special. Great family and really loves this sport. Hope we get him. I was a little concerned when he was talking about wrestling with Zain Retherford. I would love for him to come here. He would get treated like gold and we would make sure he had the best accommodations and workout partners. the tides are changing with recruits thinking about penn state. They see it's becoming a meat market for the best wrestlers in a country. Is it really worth it to be one of the best guys in the country and in the third rotation, because there's other guys equally as good? No kid wants to be the best kid in the country and be a career second or third stringer. I think he sees the passion and determination from our head coach. That ohio state match should show him what we mean. We are tough new jersey wrestling.

How? Who? Iowa, Okie State, and Penn State have the best training partners for him. But if he brought Jax with him... I'm still trying to understand why he would choose Rutgers over those programs, although having him would elevate the lower to midweights in the program.

Why wouldn't he? Suriano and Ashnault came here.

Money, location, and let his Dad be involved with the RU program. I’m a huge fan of David Taylor but never understood why any kid would want to spend 4+ years in Stillwater OK. Other than a few nice buildings and facilities it’s a desolate wasteland. And getting there from NJ/PA is a PITA with few direct flights and having to fly into Tulsa or OKC. New Brunswick is a short car ride to Bo’s hometown.

Who were you thinking about when you said "best... workout partners"? Right now, 133. 141 and 149 are numbers 9, 15, and 21, respectively. Granted, Gibson is there and Parkins and Harrer will be arriving, but they will benefit from Bo more than he from them. I think Rivera would have been good to have, Ashnault less so given what Bo did to him in freestyle. Maybe you should move back to Jersey and be a volunteer coach. There's some good sunny and bluegill fishing in Jersey lakes.

Suriano isn't a good example, he went to PSU first, then came for two years before moving on again. Ashnault was interested in helping Rutgers turn the corner, but even he later departed when he wanted better training opportunities. I do wish there was good reason for Bo and others to consider Rutgers, and there might be if he and Jax came. But there are other things that are needed: a big-name coach, high-level assistants, and competitive NIL. Bo alone would likely make a difference by attracting others who would like to train with him. And if he stayed on after graduation, that would satisfy one of the coaching needs. Today, there is no one there that can hang with him. He values having great (not just good) training partners, which he would have at Iowa (Spencer Lee), Okie State (Gillman), Penn State (top 1-5 in 141 and neighboring weights). It's the unfortunate truth.

As I said above, Bo alone would make a difference to us, but he would need to bring Jax with him or attract another top guy to keep him sharp. He would also need to have more impact on the program's intensity than the other way around. To my knowledge, all the talk about his dad is speculation at best, although that, too, would help in recruiting. I have to believe a Rutgers asst. position would pay more than a Catholic school. I don't know that Rutgers is capable of being that creative or getting the needed support from above.

Bo, Jax, and Melvin, in addition to having Magro and Gibson, are dream material, but we know that doesn't happen at Rutgers. I don't get caught up in pipe dreams, but this one has had me thinking.

Bo is built diff.. best training partners isn’t his top priority and it’s not for every top recruits either.. i.e. Alirez going to N. Colorodo and still winning nationals….. Bo was open minded enough to consider every school to start, which means he doesn’t only care about the “standard path” but rather what best sets him and his family up overall…

Read some crazy stat that out of Bo’s 100 wins 94 were TF+. Which is wild considering he lives in PA and goes to some pretty tough tournaments… he’s got all the intangibles too.. Machine gun mindset, always looking to score, loves the sport, always looking to improve.

IMO,hot take, but Bo is the most important recruit out of hs( yes I think more than Spencer L/Gable). He’s already got all the accolades/intangibles.. and then u stack on wherever he goes he will bring more coverage to that program, make all his teammates better, as well as get more future recruits to follow him (Melvin/younger Basset etc).

Apparently sources have said we will be on Bo’s top few schools… if this is true, we need to go all in on Bo, throw the kitchen sink…. We are only a few pieces away from consistently hanging w the Ohio St of the world…

I agree although I think Forrest is actually a better, more technical wrestler. If people want to make NIL donations that would have an immediate and long-lasting impact on a program = Bo + Jax. The ROI on those two is way better than Bailey/Harper especially because wrestlers aren’t one and done and do not require a full supporting cast. RU has a serious opportunity to be a top 5 program. Open the BM and FCA floodgates!

I love this.Great take. Our heart and showing against Ohio St. should sell any recruit. But that is not for me to say. In the grand scheme of things, any kid should want to wrestle for a program like ours, just watching Goody on the sidelines genuinley caring about how his kids are doing.Ive been a harsh critic of Goody from the start, but I really have seen this man care about his wrestlers. That goes beyond any salary or scholarship. I agree, we need to go all in on Bassett ( which Im sure we are). We are ranked above Penn St, Ohio State, Ok St. and Iowa acamically, we have state of the art facilities, a top 15 NCAA ranking, multiple All Americans in the line up, a great head and 3 passionate, awesome assistants. We throw everything at this kid that we can as far as scholarship, NIL deals and just our culture, to me, it is a no brainer to come here.

I doubt we have any shot at Jax.. saw him list his top schools and we weren’t on it.. just out of curiosity but what are some of Jax(he beat Stanich n who else?) and Bo’s best folkstyle wins ?(I know Bo beat Ash in fs)….

I don’t follow any college bball but it’s kinda crazy knowing that 2 out of the top 3 picks going to be drafted into the NBA is playing right here at RU..

So who would be these “best” workout partners at Rutgers? Interesting you seem to know what all of the stud high school think about psu. And please explain how if your the best kid in the country you’d be a second or third stringer at psu? I guess if your second or third stringer your clearly not the best in the country
