GS acts the big shot, as Cheney in W's presidency and as head coach was in a position to make many demands on a weak president and two weak, lackey ADs. Mr. Power Trip with an ego bigger than Old Queens. Face it: BM and TP worked for Schiano and not the other way around.

Along those lines I have felt he'd actually prefer a weak AD like Julie who'd need to keep him happy in order to keep her job rather than a strong AD backed by a strong president and presumably the governor.

For this reason I would be very shocked if Schiano returns. He wouldn't have the power here that he once had, and reducing the subsidy goes against Schiano's M.O.

IMO Barchi knows this already and it's why he chose the words "money won't be an issue." True, it won't be. It will be an issue of fit. Barchi will choose someone who understands who's boss. Schiano isn't that guy.

You mean Nick Saban does not have the real juice at Alabama? Urban Meyer? Kirk Ferentz? Etc, etc. etc. The head football coach being top man on the totem pole is standard.

Greg is the man.

Mine...yes those guys do, in Alabama and OSU (not sure about Iowa dynamics). And probably a few other places too.

But I don't think that would fly here anymore with strong administrators. Schiano operated almost without constraints or oversight. In many ways that was admirable and successful (apr, few problem players: davon Clark, etc ) but spending was a problem that came home to roost under Barchi.

Anyone that wins here is the boss. If you win you can make demands. It would be good for our HC to make some demands.

Boy, that's a high-quality stream of internet speculation there.

The real powerful men that would keep Schiano from coming back are Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh, Mark Dantonio, & James Franklin. He doesn't want to recruit or scheme against them...well maybe scheme against Franklin
