BC's QB is featured in Tier 1.

"Jeff Hafley revealed this week that Jurkovec was really only healthy for one game in 2021, and his decision to battle through what was thought to be a season-ending hand injury only reflects on the character of this potential future pro. Jurkovec has great size, and when he was healthy back in 2020, exploded onto the scene with four 300-yard passing games in his first five career starts, becoming the first Boston College quarterback to accomplish that feat. Now finally healthy with his favorite target Zay Flowers back as well, the Eagles' passing attack should be strong again in 2022."

He’s a good QB but this game will be decided in the trenches and the turnover battle. They typically have a good OL, not BIG 10 level but good OL. They have to replace I think everyone this year so it will be interesting. We now have edge guys who can get to the QB so that will help. Coaching should be a push. They know each other well and it will come down to execution. Last year we would have been pick’em on the road based on what we did against same opponents. Maybe even a sight favorite.

We either get to him quick or this one is over. If we sit back and let him pick us a part we're dead.

I really hope this Harasymiak is the defensive genius he's been built up to be. I want Dave Arnada designed blitzes where LB's work in conjunction with the DL to get clean lanes for smack downs on the QB. He's going against an entire rookie offensive line he better draw some sh*t up that kills that QB.

Offenses today with a good QB and aware receivers will exploit the philosophy of getting to the QB with sell out pressure.
Advantageous down and distance like 3rd and 4s and 5s make it impossible to get to the quarterback if he’s getting rid of the ball in rhythm.
Blitz pressure leaves holes all over the field if you can’t pressure the QB with your front 4

Sending a LB does not open up a hole. Aranda schemes this in a way which makes the DL blockers for the blitzing LB. It's teamwork and unselfish play which makes it so successful. Last year's blitz scheme were atrocious, not sure if Schiano designed them but if so, he's lost a step.

We're not playing the second coming of Joe Montana here. You need to speed up his internal clock. If you do so every QB is prone to mistakes and inaccuracy. You can not expect DB's to sit back in coverage for longer than 3 to 4 secs tops, they'll be toast. We don't have 4 Lestor Hayes back there. Playing it straight up in this game is a recipe for disaster.

Got to pick and chose, good QB’s like the kid at BC dare you to blitz if you’re predictable.
You can confuse QB’s by dropping guys into coverage and stopping the run game also.
Ideally, it’s a D coordinators dream to get pressure with your front 4.
“We just can’t block this guy”
Is music to the ears of a D coordinator

We had TEEL ,they had Brohm.( he had to be top tier) That 2006 game ended well I remember.Does Jurkov.have a brother on the sideline to yell at him? The D WILL BE A DECIDING FACTOR ON THE 3RD

IF he's getting rid of the ball in rhythm. Even a lot of good college level QBs struggle to achieve this, though. Even NFL QBs struggle.

very informative

But how does their QB play with 4 TEs on the field every play?
That's going to cut into his production.

Remember who the OC is.
QB can't amass yards to WRs if no actual pass catchers are on the field.

NC State's Devin Leary (Sicklerville NJ) is the ACC's preseason Player of the Year. His team is ranked #13 at the start of this season.

The school has a tradition of NFL QBs in recent years. Philip Rivers. Russel Wilson. Jacoby Brisset. Mike Glennon. Ryan Finley.

But he is number 7 in conference 1st tier. 6 QB’s rated higher. He is also an unknown coming off last year’s injury.

I just hope that someone is finally teaching these DBs to find the ball in coverage and we don't see a steady diet of back shoulder throws and TD bombs sailing over the heads of oblivious defenders.

I hope Rutgers doesn't try to use overload blitz schemes. The good teams kill that. Jurkovec is a good, not great, runner. Good enough to outrun Rutgers' edges if only one gets through. The Front 4 has to get some penetration.

BC's season went down the crapper when he got injured. I wonder if he's not going to run much by design.

It all depends how he responds to pressure. If he gets hit early and gets happy feet, then it’ll affect him for the rest of the game. I don’t know what his response to pressure will be like.

We should hope that McNulty hasn't added a counter in his leather helmet playbok.

He had a good 2020, but last year wasn't so hot and might be the reason Notre Dame

decided Ian Book was better , making Phil look to Notre Dame's little brother in Boston
for a job

So you're saying , even with being injured, Phil was the best BC could put out there .
Not wanting him injured, but hope he gets hit enough to worry and make him play scared
and have BC have to put in another blocker for protection .
He was hurt in game 2 against UMass and came back game 9 against VT.
Guess BC needed him even if not 100%

It’s why the 4-3 defenses are passé. Stack the backfield and fill gaps. You have to get pressure with your line though.
