Bowl eligibilty post Friday night

Looking forward to a win today and possible Bowl. RU Bowl near Christmas is something to look forward to.

I don't know if I want a bid at 5-7 with wins over Kansas, Indiana, Army and Norfolk State. It would just give the media (ESPN, NJ.com, etc.), Rutgers haters and self loathing New Jerseyans another opportunity to bash the program.

Agreed. A bowl is looking pretty likely if we win today. Buffalo, Missouri, Texas, Nebraska all lost, so there are only 6 teams left to fill 7 spots. Most likely Illinois and Georgia Southern will lose today, so there could be (3) 5-7 teams in bowls this year...maybe more.

Huh, so it is better for the media to bash Rutgers for losing to a two win Maryland team? You win today then figure out if a bowl game happens so many things could happen by then, new AD, interim/permanent coach. Plus a bowl victory will not bring praise from nj.com but it should not bring bashing.

There are 11 teams who can still become bowl eligible, not six. Far from a done deal that any 5-7 teams will make it, let alone us.

Possible bowl game at 5-7 aided by our APR scores on the heels of a year in which our coach was found to be meeting professors and editing papers?

It would be laughable how badly we will be run into the ground by media .. I'll pass on the extra practices and experience.

Not nearly as bad as our own fans drive the program into the ground.

Maybe list the other five?

I had posted this in a prior thread:

So with Washington and Tulsa winning, we are now up to 73 eligibles. Seven spots left. Eleven bubble teams left. They are:

East Carolina (vs. Cincinnati 11/28)
Virginia Tech (@ Virginia 11/28)
Kansas State (@ Kansas 11/28, vs. West Virginia 12/5. Must win both.)
Indiana (@ Purdue 11/28)
Minnesota (vs. Wisconsin 11/28)
Illinois (vs. Northwestern 11/28)
Old Dominion (vs. Florida Atlantic 11/28)
Kentucky (vs. Louisville 11/28)
Georgia State (@ Georgia Southern 12/5)
South Alabama (@ Georgia Southern 11/28, vs. Appalachian State 12/5. Must win one.)
Louisiana-Lafayette (@ Appalachian State 11/28, vs. Troy 12/5. Must win both.)

If fewer than seven of the above eleven make it, then one or more 5-7 teams get in. From an APR standpoint we are either second or third in line if we win -- behind Nebraska, and behind Vanderbilt if they make it. Vandy is 4-7 and are at Tennessee tomorrow.

did the NCAA confirm ARP will be used? They had a meeting to discuss this but have the results of the meeting been released?

They announced that no decision would be made until this weekend's results are in. Obviously they are hoping this will be a non-issue. It may yet be.

I want RU to beat MD and finish 5-7. I just don't feel a bowl game after such a season would be warranted or a positive.

I stand corrected, but I don't see more than 5 possible wins in that group. If Washington State had beaten Washington, our chances would have been even better.

Do we really drive the program into the ground or do we simply expect more than everyone else because outsiders believe we are a nothing program?
