Bowls on Diamonds

After watching a few bowl games recently that were played on baseball diamonds I think that they should change the rules and require the games to be played on Field Turf football fields. Too many problems with the natural turf installed a week before a game.
Question is why do they install it a week before? Why not lay it in late November

Why use a baseball stadium. There are plenty of college football stadiums available for bowl games.
Not all games require a stadium of 40,000 or more.
How many will attend today's Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium?
Twice over 40K attended. RU vs ND and PSU vs Boston College.

Last night's game (the Holiday Bowl) had an announced attendance of 36k.

The field appeared to be very chewed-up on one end.

I thought -- why is this a thing?

Colleges are closed. and also how many colleges want to let a bowl commitee used their fields if the college is not associated/playing in the game?

the only bowl games i can think of being used that are also used for college season are small schools FAU, Boise St and Coastal Carolina... not sure what colleges in large metro areas (NYC,Boston) would be suitable...

but agree not a good playing surface or fan sight lines...

Bowls in a Baseball Stadium are a joke. Rest assured that the announced ticket sales by the Pinstripe Bowl will be at least double what the actual live attendance is.

The upper deck of Yankee Stadium was totally closed off. That’s 1/3 of the Stadium {17k} . So all lower level and mid level seats were full ? BS.
20,000 - 22,000 more likely in real attendance. Not bad consider the horrible Bowl location.

Yankee stadium is a great BB stadium, but it is a horrible venue for football. Thus surface is always a problem and the elevation suck for watching football
