Welcome back Maori. This whole ridiculous decision making by Steve Savarese never should have happened in the first place. This was so wrong on so many different levels by this guy. I'm really happy that Maori can now play in her senior year. It never should have gotten to a national story, but unfortunately, you have myopic individuals like S.S. who make wrong-headed decisions. Great for Maori. Welcome back.Pending a hearing, playing tonight.

I think this statement shows the AHSAA feels like they won't win if they appeal decision so trying to save face while giving up:This is great, but it's only a first step, not a final order, so we have to continue to keep our fingers crossed for her.
I think this statement shows the AHSAA feels like they won't win if they appeal decision so trying to save face while giving up:
>Jim Williams, an attorney representing the Alabama High School Athletic Association, issued a statement saying the organization will honor and follow the court’s order, although it believes the initial decision was an “appropriate interpretation of the rules adopted by the schools and was applied accordingly.”<
I think the aftermath may depend on how well she and the team do for the rest of the season. If Ms. Davenport´s team were to win the state championship again, one of the defeated teams could challenge the use of an ineligible player. Depending, of course, on when the final ruling is made and what that ruling is.
Absolutely right. Best scenario for AHSSAA would have been to quietly let this whole debacle die after the judge reinstated her. Nothing to gain by continuing to pursue any additional action against her.Unbelievable how they are still fighting her.
You probably used up your allotment for WP articles. Anytime this happens for a newspaper site here's what you can do to get around it. Right click the link and do "open link in incognito window" (google chrome) or "private browsing" (Safari & Firefox).Mike, I can't access your link. I am going to start a new thread so readers realize that this is new(as of today) info in this disgusting story. Thanks.
