Basicly if there is a video that clears him and he was simply breaking up a fight. I would assume he will be back playing sooner rather than later.

THE KEY - Shane, his friend, was the one that touched her. NOT Leonte.

It sounds like Maria may have embellished her side of the story.

Summary from Carroo Attorney end.

  • "that two cell phone videos outside the Hale Center in Piscataway will show that Carroo never touched the alleged victim".
  • "Everything indicates that she is the only one who should be charged in this".
  • "Setky said Carroo instead grabbed Maria Vega to get her out of the fight, and never touched anyone else".

NEW BRUNSWICK - The lawyer representing Rutgers wide receiver Leonte Carroo in a court hearing involving a temporary restraining order said Wednesday that two cell phone videos outside the Hale Center in Piscataway will show that Carroo never touched the alleged victim.

William Fetky, Carroo's attorney, said Carroo's friend – Shane Turner – will testify that he grabbed the victim's arm and pushed her to the ground. He said the woman who claimed to have been picked up by Carroo and slammed to the ground, was the aggressor during the Sept. 12 fight.

He's not coming back. Even if by some chance he didn't do anything, the PR would be brutal.

Confused. Is he talking about the same person? He said Caroo never touched her but then said Caroo "grabbed" her to get her out of the fight. Is he talking about the same person?

No. His friend, Shane, said that he (Shane) grabbed her arm and pushed her. Took me a couple times reading it too.

Oh Please let this be true. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be true.

For Leonte's sake and not my personal hopes for a better Rutgers offense.

I think he saying touched as in assaulted. Breaking up a fight is the right this to do.

I guess the next question is if there are any witnesses saying they saw Carroo do anything physical to her?

I bet this thread drops to the bottom being that it doesn't help the Fire Flood Quest people are on.

yes. we should ruin a kids senior year and his future draft status over something he didn't do. If there is video proof that he did nothing, charges are dropped, and we don't let him back than we are a bigger joke than I thought. I actually hope he sues RU if that happens.

The PR couldn't get any worse, so having been suspended, and if it turns out he he didn't slam anyone to the ground and was only trying to breakup a fight, you think that warrants a 10 game suspension?

Sorry, we will have to agree to disagree on that.

I am sure there is more to come, and if guilty, LC should get what he deserves, but if not, I don't care what ESPN or anybody else thinks, he has to be reinstated.

Reading comprehension guys.....He is saying Leonte only grabbed Maria (his current girlfriend), NOT the victim. Instead, he is saying his friend, Shane, was the one who grabbed the victim by the arm and pushed her to the ground.

In otherwords, Leonte's position is that he did not even TOUCH the victim. He only pulled his current girlfriend, Maria (the one who was also just charged yesterday) away from the fight. In otherwords, he shouldn't have even been charged.

If the video proves this and other witnesses can confirm it seems like Leonte will get off. At the very least, if this goes to trial it is going to be very difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the victim's statements are factual in light of other witness statements and video. Should be interesting.

Yes. Because that would be a great PR for all current recruits, coaches and media. Do you know how quickly sites like Deadspin would crucify us if he was cleared and we didn't put let him play, essentially turning our back on someone that needs to showcase himself for the draft.

Dear god man, someone insert palm face gif here

There is video of the incident? Knowing Rutgers, this will be leaked shortly.

Why would you not leak the video if it shows him as innocent? Why would Carroo not want the video out there? Why wouldn't you just release it and then get on with your life?

If there is clear video LC wasn't involved in any way other than to grab his girlfriend and he never touched the victim, why aren't charges dismissed already?

Of course he's coming back if he's innocent, especially if there's video proof. To suggest otherwise is just silly.

Do you understand now why some cautioned rushing to judgment until both sides of the story were aired?

i thought about this when i was told about the video on saturday and it became clear to me yesterday. because it may show his current GF and/or mom assaulting the other participant.

I don't know if he's guilty or innocent but come on guy.

If there's video PROOF that he didn't do anything, what are you talking about? Please explain.
Exactly.

PR nightmare if he comes back? Absurd. It would be vindication that the media is nothing better than a mob scene and totally a joke. If there is proof he is innocent, he should suit up that afternoon.

If not, you are teaching people NEVER to get involved. ALWAYS look away. (Basically we know that now but you have to hand it to a guy who risks everything to do the right thing. If that is the case.)

The video is the main thing here, not just the friend saying he did it instead of LC. If the video shows what the defense attorney says it shows, LC's charges should be dropped and he should be reinstated to the team - hopefully not too far down the road.

Sure that's the knee jerk reaction and does lead to legitimate questions.

Not being a defense attorney I'd have to guess there's a reason(s). Maybe one of the attorneys here can explain in general terms.

I was at the point where I would have believed Rutgers football players moonlight as Sudanese pirates.

But without everything else surrounding it, the idea of Carroo body slamming some girl on the concrete seems very far fetched.

If this can be proven, Leonte may well have a significant case for a defamation suit against her. If she was the aggressor that will make her the one in deep crap. Unfortunately, cases like this haunt the accused even if they are found to be innocent.

Possible answers?

1)Person with video is friend of "victim" and not a friend of Carroo.

2)by clearing Carroo, someone else get's in trouble, possibly another friend of video taker
