Sagarin's has it this way ... with Texas A&M #9, Penn State #26.
  • Alabama
  • Michigan
  • Ohio State
  • Clemson
  • Washington

Aren't rankings released on ESPN every week? Honestly would surprise me if it's a silly move to garner more attention bc rankings are meaningless right now

Clemson, who is beyond lucky not to have 2 losses, is ahead of Meechigan?
SEC and south bias may be in play...
By the eye test, not just the RU game, Washington is top 4...they may be more physical than Bama...

What cartoon is your avatar from? I vaguely remember it, but I definitely remember it being awesome.

Dude that's StarBlazers. That show was friggin awesome when we were kids. It was Japanese animation so the sound didn't match up with the characters talking but when your 7 who gives a sh*t.

That is pretty god awful, through and through. Besides the inexplicable Texas A&M and PSU leaps ...

- Why is a 5-3 Florida State that got destroyed by Louisville still anywhere in the top 25?

- Why does LSU get overrated every fkn year, over and over again. They lose and disappear, but always resurface, this time all the way at 13 with no signature wins. They lost to the two good teams they played and won a bunch of nothing.

They get a stupid amount of bounce, even for the SEC. They'll probably move up after getting destroyed by Alabama next game, because it was Alabama, they have to play the "toughest conference in cfb," [insert more pro SEC bullshit].

Glad to see the B1G with so many in the top 10, though.

I like it! [winking] ...but I'll admit I'm biased

Arkansas has played 3 of the top 9 teams. Alabama is definitely the real deal. A& M was damn tough. Auburn beat us like a red headed step child. Of course we were dead tired when we played Auburn, but they are good!

Y'all moan and groan all that you
wish. But Bama and A& m are VERY strong!

So is UW. And it's undefeated.

Immediately goes to Amazon to see if it's available for streaming. :(
The complete DVD set is $99 but I know the memories are better than the actual series. Same thing happened with Monty Python, movie was hilarious when I was 16. At 26 I watched it again and wanted to punch 16 year old me in the face.

None of these rankings mean anything until the conference championships games knock teams out. The CCG actually play the role of the first round in the playoffs. All these rankings do is give the talk shows something to argue about.

O no don't buy it. It was great when we were young. Saw an episode a year ago and it truly is awful animation and it sucks now. Back then it was cutting edge.

The problem here is that Alabama and Texas A&M are both in the same division, and they've already played each other. If they both win out, Alabama goes to the conference championship game and A&M stays home. Does A&M still go to the playoffs then?

We've played 3, 5, and 6. I had called all 3 to finish top 10 and was laughed at by some here. Anyway, freakin' nuts!

People have got to start remembering that the committee only bases the rankings on games played to date. They do not, do not, project forward. For example, the ranking this week does not factor in any conference championships. That won't be factored in until the final poll, when conference championships are actually awarded.

Congrats, we played 3 of the top 6. You know what that got both of us? 0-3

That said, I don't think there is bias in this poll. It's so painfully obvious an attempt to try to garner attention, I mean ESPN lost how many hundred thousand subscribers in the past MONTH? And so much money on the last playoff that they had to actually pay advertisers money back? It's for the attention.

One thing I think most can agree on is that the Big 12 smells yet again. Highest ranked team is OU at #14 and they seem to be the most consistent program in the conference and even they are usually a paper tiger. I feel bad for our friends in Morgantown. They really should be in the ACC with natural rivals like Pitt and Syracuse and not in that kakimame UT/OU conference which is a bitch to travel to. Seriously, am I the only one who thinks TCU/Baylor/Texas Tech/Ok State are virtually the same team every year? No identity, no defense really played. Outside of UT, OU, WVU and KU, Baylor is the only school I see being taken by a major conference (likely the PAC 12) when that conference eventually implodes.

Baylor? The only major conference that will take Baylor is the National Conference on Higher Education in Prison.

Totally agree. Alabama dominated and the game wasn't close. How does that make A&M better than an undefeated Washington?

Strength of schedule so far...but it does not matter...if W wins all it's remain games (very weak remaining schedule) and they win the PAC they will move ahead of A&M due to the extra game (even if A&M goes 11-1). This is clearly a strength of schedule consequence. Of course I want A&M to make it to the CFB playoff, but it is very doubtful.

Bama, Clemson and UM are not losing (IMO) and neither is Wash...those 4 will comprise the playoff...it is that easy.

I agree with your first statements. I think it will take care of itself as the season goes on if Wash remains undefeated. Is it possible for a rematch with Utah in the champ game? I think they could have a shot again but it would be played in Washington likely. I don't know about WSU beating UW but who knows could be playing for the PAC12 north in the Apple Cup.

To your second statement, I think Alabama will remain undefeated. The others less sure. Actually IMO, LSU this week in Louisiana is their best chance of going down with their remaining schedule but still think they will win. You'd think Clemson should get by, no one really that tough left but they've had close calls earlier in games you wouldn't expect. UM has OSU where they could lose.

I still think it will be hard for a conference to get 2 teams in when one isn't a conference champion. In A&M's case they won't even have been in the title game. I could see the title game loser of 2 strong undefeateds possibly making its way in but a team that doesn't even play in its conference championship seems like a tough hill to climb.

People are down on OSU after the past couple weeks of uninspiring offensive production. Defense is still playing lights out and if they can get their WR situation figured out before the *ichigan game they'll be in. Had to play back to back road night game at Wisconsin and Penn State (both coming off bye weeks). Yes, I'm a tad biased being an OSU alum, although I think they're where they belong at #6 behind Lousiville & Washington.

ESPN talking about A&M's strength of schedule and they like to conveniently forget that OSU has wins at Oklahoma and Wisconsin. All the ranked teams A&M played (minus Auburn) aren't even ranked anymore.

This is completely backwards....
A conference championship game loser will never make it in. There is visas, we just learned which is better and late losses hurt a lot. Teams hey benefit of doubt they improved from early losses. Your only chance of making 2 teams in is having a 1 loss team not making championship and that loss being early season. UM / Ohio game being end of year sucks for BigTen in that regard.

It should work itself out in the next 5 weeks:
- LSU plays Florida, Bama and TAMU. Auburn can also upset Bama. Florida has FSU still. You should get 1 team from the SEC.
- The Michigan / Ohio St winner should get in as long as they win the B10 championship.
- Clemson running the table should get in which would include a win over South Carolina.
- Washington running the table should get in.

If Bama and TAMU win out it may get interesting but think a P12 undefeated Washington will eclipse TAMU for the 4th spot.

The way things have gone in the past there are usually only 1 or 2 undefeated power 5 teams and expect upsets to occur for that to happen this season too. For all we know LSU can beat Florida, Bama, and TAMU.

I suppose lsu could beat bama in BR...doubt it...but it could happen...if both A&M and Wash have one loss at the end of the year, A&M will get the nod...sorry, but SEC >>> PAC (even with the extra game)

OSU could beat Mich...to see harbaughs pissed odd reaction alone would be worth it! Clemson? who knows...not sure if the fighting chickens have it in them to win against the tigers...

Even if nothing comes of it, it is cool that A&M is in the conversation (at least in NOV)

Not if Washington finishes 13-0, Clemson wins out, and Michigan or Ohio State win the B1G. The SEC is 3 for 3 in having two teams ranked in the top 4 of the initial CFP ranking. It is because of SEC hype.
