Cheapskates better not sell out again for PSU

Sick of our stadium being taken over so people can make a quick buck
increase season ticket base and you won't have 30% of the tickets available for single games and large pockets s between the 20 yard lines (even top level) ... most of these are not RU season ticket holders "bailing out" and selling via Stub Hub ..(yes that occurs)) but its more prevalent with individual tickets being sold to an opponent that fans travel well and opponent with a lot of alumni in the NY/NJ market.

then don’t go if you don’t like it. Fact is there WILL BE a lot of PSU fans there. They’ve been more successful and have a much larger following.

You realize that even if every season ticket holder attended there would still be almost 20K seats available for PSU fans to gobble up.
And they’d be largely isolated to the corners and uppers, not dominating the visitor sideline and scattered in almost every other section with active season ticket holders in the seats.

It’s small time to make excuses for probably only 20K Rutgers fans showing up for a night game in 65-70 degree weather against a top 5 team, when many didn’t have anything better to do as evidenced by their posting on this board during the game.

"Better not sell out again." Or else what?
We’ll get embarrassed again by a school that’s universally hated by the fanbase, potentially lose key players to the portal who don’t want to play away games in their home stadium, give more ammo to the teams we’re recruiting against, and have an all around miserable day, among other things

The fanbase is beaten down, what do you expect? Read the room, dipswitch.
To try to do something to fix it, instead of bailing on games on a great day, leaving early when they clearly could have stayed because they’re posting on the boards 2 hours after it ended, and refusing to donate to the school or NIL orgs.

we will likely do exactly what you said above..even if all 52k fans were Rutgers fans.

the fact people may sell to PSU fans has ZERO impact on what you say above. Only people that can impact that are the coaches and players

If you don’t think the home atmosphere has an impact on keeping/recruiting players you’re out of your mind

Never fear, they will. At least the UM fans weren't as obnoxious as the Nebraska fans.
Have to disagree. The UM fans around us were far worse than the NE fans - maybe we just got unlucky. They were pretty quiet in the first half, but became major douches in the 3Q, fueled by our incompetence. Lots of condescending smack talk. Can't stand that RU fans sell to fans of other teams. Fans simply don't do that, even if the team isn't particularly good.

You guys do realize 99% of the fans you’re calling out..have no idea who bought there tickets…you don’t know whether the person buying on stubhub is Michigan or Rutgers fan.

we have to start winning so more Rutgers fan will want to buy off Stibhub

The number of UM fans in 121 / 122 was an embarrassment. Thank God they weren't A Holes. A 4-4 team going against a Top 5 school we've almost beaten last couple of years at our place. Prime Time game. Loser fan base.

the 2nd half was also an embarrassment. Stop being embarrassing on the field and the embarrassment in the stands will end. It’s quite simple

Excuses and yet you and others are here at almost 1 AM posting about the game. More productive to just show up, bring friends, offer them food and a tailgate. Might be left with better things to talk about

It has an impact but winning has more of an impact
We will not attract enough recruits capable of regularly beating teams like this if we’re close to (or by the end of the games, are) outnumbered by opposing fans on a consistent basis.

We want to land players looking at schools like PSU, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, etc., but when you take a high school kid and show them that they can play in Iowa in front of stands full of Iowa fans, or Rutgers in front of stands full of Iowa fans, well, the decision is probably narrowed down.

Winning is great and long term it’s needed but this team was locked in for the first half. The fans there did everything possible to swing the game but it’s just so sad to think about the impact it could have if we had 40K Rutgers fans there instead of 20K.

Not an excuse. Just facts. Need to start playing exciting football so casual fans will buy off StubHub. Very simple.

totally wish I could have made it. But work called. Oh well. Couldn’t find any takers so listed on stubhub. No clue who bought.

not sure why this makes me so bad

didn't realize those tickets were sold at 5 mins into Q3 and not pre-game. Good point.

they weren’t. I’m using the 2nd half as an example to why people aren’t coming out in droves to go to a Rutgers game on a beautiful Saturday night.

We’ve had many half’s like tonight the past decade. No one is excited to see that. Sorry.

I have a clue who bought based on the crowd makeup tonight.

I can’t believe there’s this much conversation about whether having home fans in the stand is a reasonable expectation and whether it can have a positive impact on the game. It’s like everyone has slept through the past 4-5 years of Rutgers basketball, or never watched big time college football games.

I agree. I expect home fans to be in the stadium.

but I understand WHY we don’t have that. It’s cause of the product.

Then the product will stay bad, I can promise that. It will not magically get fixed with no fan support, we don’t have a Hafley or Brown here to save the day.

We don’t have no fan support. You’re now exagerating.

Atmosphere was rocking on TV in 1st half. Crazy what play on field does, huh?!?

Atmosphere in the stands was fairly tame outside of the third and fourth down goal line plays and the punt block until we got toward the second quarter. So, yes, the play on the field did encourage the fans that cared enough to show up.

If only we had 15-20K more people that cared, we might have gotten more of an edge and not had to listen to UM take over starting in Q3. But I’m exaggerating, definitely can’t think of any massive home court advantage held by a Rutgers program.

we agree. Home advantage is huge!

again, there’s a reason we don’t have that in football. It’s quite easy to see why. But all good.

is there a difference to you…of a Rutgers fan who puts two football ticks on stubhub and a rutgers fan who puts two hoops tickets up to stibhub?

the only difference in these two scenarios is people WANT TO go to Rutgers hoops games…hence a Rutgers fan will likely buy.

Don’t blame the seller. Blame the demand
